Yesterday I watched the anime movie "Nausicaa" for the first time. It was in japanese and with no subtitles.

I didn't understand shit (the little I understood was due to the context presented through the imagery), but it was incredible. It was such an abstract and poetic experience.

I think not speaking the language can enhance certain movies.

most of the "epic moments" before marley have been underwhelming since the characters were terrible but i like the reiner ptsd thing they're doing in marley and there hasn't been that cringe "soldier/warrior" thing they did during the beast titan arc. this is the best character writing isayama has done so far. was it worth it? for most people i'd say yes since they're easily entertained. but if you have taste then probably not.

you rly got to think about how the kanji semantically result in the meaning of the word (or rather mostly just feel it) to get a good reviewing experience, sometimes the kanji don't result in the meaning in a way that really makes sense in which it makes sense to include a context snipped (for a common usage) in the hint field, same thing with hiragana words

i altered the スーパ大辞林 file matt posted in his video about yomichan dictionaries so that yomichan divided the definitions for it, i can give you the python script that did that if you want, although if you don't know programming you will probably have a hard time making any use of it
