As long as this stuff comes out in a timely fashion I'll be happy.

More Circus stuff should be expected, seeing that is probably the biggest company with MangaGamer at the moment. Navel is also big, and we will likely get at least one more title from them. Mentioned in other threads, but I think that a very important thing not to overlook is these are decent size companies creating partnerships with English companies, and this is a trend that is likely to continue. I fully expect several more major companies getting into partnerships during this next year.

Also of importance, MangaGamer is getting a damn nice selection to appeal to a broader audience. Shuffle and Higurashi both have a very nice size fanbase already in the West.

1. Buying official localizations is either absolutely counterintuitive or completely incomprehensible

2. Buying localized games isn't really something adults do-- it's something kids do to seem adult.

May Club was many years ago. YMK was completely intact, The Sagara Family actually implied in the story the youngest was under 18 (mentions about police would arrest the main guy if their relationship got out, and in one ending there is a time skip and she clearly grows a good deal) and that was left intact. There is only one example in the last 5 years of JAST censoring.

Being a MangaGamer proofreader is awful, they give you a very short period of time to get as much as you can done, and the pay for the time it takes sucks.

KID would seriously be a good target for whomever, I can't see those titles being all that expensive, and they would probably seem more legit to the larger anime community if they could create a set of non hentai games. Higurashi and the infinity series would be one hell of a start, perhaps bug Broccoli International for the Galaxy Angel games as well.

If there was a company taking up an offer from a fan translator, one would expect to see the number of fan translations skyrocket overnight, with people having similar hopes.

Da Capo is fairly well known, and Suika is simply a better version of that. Hopefully the Kira Kira demo goes up through the "fuck" scene, so that people will be more likely to buy it. Having Shuffle info on there is a great idea since it is nearly universally known with the Western community.

I wouldn't be surprised if I fixed over 10,000 lines (random guess). I put in a LOT of work into it. I went out of my fix to make things consistent and to slowly go through each line to fix any English errors (though the lines still remained pretty literal -- I'm not going to rewrite most of the script). For example, I changed a decision regarding capitalization in the middle of doing Suika, and I went back and actually changed dozens of scripts to make it consistent even though I'm sure almost nobody would have noticed. I'm pretty sure most people they hire aren't going to go that far.

If you actually look at the release dates from JAST USA's titles they have released 1 to 2 games each year from when they were active.

Those have been their best translations but I wouldn't really say that they have improved a lot since the translation of Kira Kira still sucked.

And if you don't believe that, Reikon a former proofreader from MangaGamer declined the offer of working on Kira Kira AFTER he had worked on Suika.

Kira Kira was not translated at the same time as Edelweiss, and if it was then that just means that they translated Kira Kira and waited a few YEARS and then did a lousy editing job (if they did any editing at all) and then released it with shitty english a few years after the translation was done.

It doesn't really matter which of those cases is true, the fact that both sucks is still true.

You're right, it seems like the translation was made early, around when Edelweiss was translated.
The problem back then was not only the editor, but lack of a reliable initial translator.
If the first translation was bad, it takes that much effort out of an editor and degress of overall quality.
