Writing is NOT easy, writing anything half way decent especially isn't easy. You do drafts, then do drafts again. Then you write, then you rewrite, then you edit then you rewrite AGAIN.

I personally like UD's stuff. It's a different look at Touhou stuff. It's not a straight adaptation of the games, but they never were meant to me.

Also, nothing WRONG with seriousness. There's enough "lol silly" Touhou stuff out there. A lot more then the serious stuff.

I mean, in Scarlet Weather Rhapsody (a canon game) you can use attack spellcards, and they're more powerful than your standard non-card attacks.

And nobody gets holes through them when Remi impales them with Gungnir. Danmaku is a non-lethal sport meant to replace actual fighting, because nobody can seriously attack Reimu without risking the destruction of Gensokyo. The fighting in IaMP/SWR is some sort of extension to that, they're clearly protected from any real harm.
