The brits are worse than the U.S. when it comes to pedo freak outs. Oooo a guy glanced at my daughter, he's a paedophile, oh no a woman wrote a page about a boy in her class she's a paedophile. So much for Britfag superiority complex, you all have shitty governments.

Of course it's /jp/ related, regarding the consequences. Just wait when they start regulating the internet within the EU as it won't take long until every form of porn outside of missionary position with adults in their 30s will be banned from access.

Hey amerikkan. maybe you should take a look in the newspapers as there are some fancy bills in the pipeline like the Cyberbullying Act.
Last news I read was that some circles are making a huge ruckus about LOL NORTHKOREA attacking critical infrastructure over the internet, obviously a made up scam but it's being fear-mongered to get the mentioned bill passed.

America does have it's problems with government trying to play on the fears of people to get more control, as does every other country, but this does not change that Britain is on it's way to becoming a police state. It's quite ridiculous. I don't blame them, but do British people know how to fight when their essential freedoms are being stomped on? Fighting the power is one of the things most kids learn in elementary school out here in America.

The British Government has introduced a law that forces all children’s book authors who visit schools to register in a national database intended to protect children from pedophiles.

The Vetting and Barring Scheme begins October 12, 2009 and requires all adults who work with children, even on special one off occasions, to register for a fee of $105. The law is similar to child protection laws in place in other countries (most Australian states have such laws) however are usually only applied to those working full time with children, such as child care workers or teachers, as opposed to book authors who make the occasional special appearance.

Carnal Knowledge reports that several well-known UK authors will boycott schools in protest of the requirement including Philip Pullman, Anne Fine, Anthony Horowitz, Michael Morpurgo, and Quentin Blake. Pullman called the policy “corrosive and poisonous to every kind of healthy social interaction…This reinforces the culture of suspicion, fear and mistrust that underlies a great deal of present-day society. It teaches children that they should regard every adult as a potential murderer or rapist.”

The UK Government defended the law, saying that it was necessary to defend children from predators. I’m sure J.K. Rowling will be highly amused at the notion that she could be considered a predator, after all that label is usually only applied to her by extreme Christian organizations.

>> No.2953375

I prefer locking kids up in the basement. It has proven to be an efficient way to keep them safe.

The alternative of equipping them with a suicide bomb vest is also good. It usually scares away sexual predators when they know they might be blown up.

I think the current society is pretty soft on their child protection. They could go so much further.

Or is she supposed to pay hundred bucks to be registered not-pedo?

So going on field trips, chaperoning dances, or basically any sort of parental involvement with their kids at school will make them pay 105$ to be registered as a pedo?

That's going to be a long lasting law, alright.
