Although I wouldn't go as far as to believe any of them are remotely good looking, I doubt this is true.
There's shittons of animu/yaoi fangirls on YouTube. Umineko, for some reason or another, seems to have many more girl fans than guys in Japan.
It's unrealistic to think that no girls came here, played Umineko, and actually come back sometimes.

Maybe it's just how I think, but it's probably because it's tasteful and not just another eroge. I really don't like h-scenes anyway and they just ruin the game and leaving them out of Uminko does make it a lot better.

Blue Blue glass moon is more like those silly descriptions you see in fiction. 'Night fell like a frilly black, dark curtain' and the like.

The weird jumbles appear mostly on Melty Blood, certain chants and stand-alone pics.

On the other hand, when you play story-centric VNs but with cute girls being paraded in front of you all the time, its very satisfying when they finally get fucked. The fact that you've come to know their character so well makes it more appealing.

Theres plenty of non-ero games which have sold well, for example Clannad.
The point is the market for these types of games most likely won't bothered by a bit of sex. Plenty of people will want to have a sex scene with their favourite character, so why not put it in? I for one prefer it when games do have sex scenes.

Umineko is popular with fujoshi because it's not a standard eroge. NOT BECAUSE THERE'S NO PORN, BUT BECAUSE THIS MEANS THERE ARE NO STRAIGHT SEX SCENES RUINING EVERYTHING AND SO ALLOWS FOR YAOI SHIPPING.
If Umineko was a yaoi eroge, it would be about if not even more popular with women than it already is. Erotic BL games are quite popular with fujoshi.
