Touhou has a hard time getting mainstream, especially in the west, because it has a large gatekeeper.
That gatekeeper being a giant pleb filter. If you're interested in Touhou you either have to play the very difficult Bullet Hell games or even if you go the path of a secondary you still have to research everything online by yourself. You just can't bingewatch on netflix or read one series in mangadex.

I first got introduced to Touhou when I was around 11 years old in Elementary School and I absolutely loved it. Even now, more than 7 years later, I still love the Touhou Project series and I'll make sure that it will never die in the future. It won't die out. I wouldn't count on it.

I only play the dev branch, but do you mean stuff like 355 > 405 > 244 > 604 > 99? You can skip wasting TSP just doing that in going from one place to another. It takes 0 minutes if you don't want to use your powers. I forgot to check the time but I'm pretty sure it's about as instantaneous as stopping time to move around.
I stumbled upon 244 by accident, but I'm guessing there are others, but I don't particularly want to find out the others through trial and error since the game can crash.
355 > 9999 is also useful, if that's something that's supposed to be in there.
There's also the snow part of the game where cleanliness if you have 811 unlocked is a bit messy unless you go back inside. I.E. SDM Main Gate > Guard Hut and continue from there. Just small findings on my part.

ZUN's kind of an elitist in terms of the content he likes and ingests. Not in the sense that he patronizes people but more so in just what he likes.
It's enough of a premise that on one interview (I believe in scoow) the interviewer just stated that reading LNs doesn't seem like something ZUN would do, and he indeed doesn't. We know he read quite a bit of actual novels, watches some anime, and plays some games, but that's it.
Of course he likely appreciates vtubers that like his games, but that's probably the only connection vtubers have to ZUN.

I won't be surprised if vtubers appear in canon in some way or form, either as a joke in an Aya article or appear as another character of something of a metaphorical nature like Keiki. He doesn't shy away on adding current events stuff in Touhou. There being a blatant vtuber character however I highly doubt would happen however.

Toohoo peaked ages ago. I got into it last year, and playing through the games just reminded me of all the times I saw it referenced around the turn of the decade and didn't appreciate it. Being a fan now feels like exploring classic rock. But it's not like it doesn't still have fans or stopped being fun to play
