Robert Johnson spent his entire life working hard to make something of himself. Starting as nothing but a mere store clerk, he clawed his way into corporate positions in his late twenties. He spent the next twenty five years helping others achieve great wealth and success. Sadly, his dedication to the corporate world over the years always meant that his marriage was always at risk of crumbling. His only child, a beautiful daughter with a bright smile he couldn’t spend enough time with, tragically died due to cancer. And of course, eventually, his marriage did finally end. Robert denied the reality around him by burying himself in work.
Unsurprising, when his company went under, they did not fully care enough to give Robert a safety net to fall on as his world collapsed. They got rid of him, and Robert was left with nothing. He eventually became a freelance landscape worker, seeing as he had no luck finding another corporate job. He felt nothing but shame doing it, but it was all he could do to support himself. Hopping from motel to motel, and often sleeping in his car, Robert was at the end of his wits. His wife left him, his child died and his family didn’t want him around. One day, while using the free wifi from a nearby fast food joint, Robert saw a message from one of his old coworkers. It spoke of a company dedicated to managing “vtubers” that was on a quick rise. Of course, he didn’t know what this was. Time had moved far too fast for Robert, he had no clue about most popular things, much less what went on within the strange world of the internet.
The job opening was simply titled “Manager”. It required basic knowledge of the corporate world and basic skills on some computer programs he had never heard of. Without feeling anything in his heart and not expecting anything, Robert applied, as he had done so many times before. Out of curiosity, he checked on what that “discord” program was all about. He saw how basic it was and figured that in case he did get hired, he could improvise and learn it as he went along.
A few weeks went by, and Robert continued on his robotic routine, his mind completely blank and heart full of nothing but regret and anger. One day, he noticed he actually did get a reply from the company he applied for. “What the hell was it again…?” he asked himself. He didn’t remember which job he applied for, as by this point they were too many to count or keep track of. Unbeknownst to Robert, this email would change his life.
Two months passed, and Robert was eventually hired. Using his trusty company laptop, he understood he would simply need to manage some “talents” from the company, such as basic schedule work, emails and third party involvement using him as a middleman between the talents and others. This was not the case at all.
Robert was thrown into a voice chat with five different women he had not previously talked to at all. He was simply told to “meet them”, with no further instructions given. Their cute voices and awkward silences signaled inexperience on all fronts. They were all young, at least far younger than him. They were also not experienced with professional environments, certainly not corporate ones.
“Uh… hi?”

His rugged voice contrasted the cute voices. The girls all said their hellos, but were clearly distracted by the fact that there was a man present. A much older man. “I’m your manager, Robert. Nice to meet you all. I see you’re all getting to know each other better, that’s good.”

As they spoke, it was clear the girls were well aware of who Robert was, and his role. They were very polite with him, but Robert could not help but feel embarrassed at the fact that he was much older than them, and felt very out of touch. Still, he tried his best. Now living in a small apartment, Robert had all the time and stability to give the corporate world another try, but this time he was very paranoid and reluctant to get attached to anyone or anything, including the job itself.
The girls were scheduled to make their debuts in a few months. During this precious down time, Robert took it upon himself to learn as much as he could. He educated himself on all things “Hololive”, even going as far as to writing down notes and vigorously studying the market, the fans and the overall atmosphere of the company and the streams themselves. Little by little, Robert only communicated with the five girls using text messages, as he couldn’t bring himself to speak to them for too long. Over time, he started getting memories of his deceased daughter. Memories he had desperately tried to drown and silence by throwing himself into a work addiction. “She would be about their age now…” he thought.

Being a man, he understood how dangerous it would be if fans were ever to find out about his existence. He continued to be the manager of the five girls- the Hololive English talents. Robert was nothing short of a ghost. They would only interact with him for business, and he would do it primarily through very formal texting and email exchanges. As far as the girls were concerned, their manager was just that: a boring manager, no one to think twice about. Robert didn’t want it to be any other way, because it didn’t have to be.

Much like before, life had other plans for Robert. As he observed a stream, he could see some problems appearing in the form of strangers being able to join a game despite a “friends only” setting being put in place. This is something he had no solution for. That is, until he was contacted directly by the girl streaming. “Amelia? Oh, what the hell are you doing…?” he whispered to himself as he saw the message show up on his screen. “Sorry, Robert. Could you maybe join in? I don’t have anyone else to ask and strangers keep showing up, I can’t just cancel the stream…”

Robert didn’t know much about video games, though he was not entirely inexperienced. He couldn’t help but compare the situation to a daughter asking her father for a favor. Robert agreed. It was his job to help.

Feeling the weight of the situation and how time sensitive it was, and the announcement that the “EN manager” would join the game, he couldn’t help but start feeling nervous for the first time in a long while. Finally, after the game downloaded, Robert joined their game. He was simply present. As far as the fans were concerned, a female manager joined, something he told the girls needed to make sure to mention very clearly. Time flew by, and Robert found himself having a lot of fun, laughing along with the girls at all the silly happenings within the game.

A trend started among fans. Robert was now known as “Enma”, a play on “English Manager”. Fans were treating his fake female persona with respect, mostly for saving the stream and not only joining the game, but doing very well. Lewd art, cool art and the discussion of what Enma’s character should be was nothing Robert wasn’t expecting. He couldn’t help but laugh at all the things being said.

Robert spoke more to the girls. He would give them advice, and scold them when needed. He would punish himself mentally for treating them far too much like he would his own daughters, often times behaving like a quiet but stern father. While he was still hands-off and mostly managed the business side, he couldn’t help but smile and the girls and their antics, and how far they eventually went with it all. The pride he took in their success was genuine. Every “thank you” he received from them was worth it in the end. With imaginary sword in hand, Robert “Enma” Johnson warps in and out of the darkness from behind the scenes.

And for once, life gave Robert something to smile about.

The problem with remix contests is that they're ridiculously time-consuming. Even her first one blew up way more than Mori ever thought it would, to the point of getting something like 800+ submissions that she and K's had to parse through. Keep in mind that this was back in September/October too, when she had a fraction of her current subscribers. If she were to do one now the number would surely double and Mori is just coming off of leaving scythe-swinging behind. Not to mention that it'd be putting a huge load of work on K's plate, assuming he wants to help again, and he's not even a Cover employee. I have no doubt that there will be another remix contest but it won't be for a while, probably not until 1M subscribers.

Not the other guy but I have so much respect for Mori. She's honestly amazing. Even if people constantly call her cringe and give her shit for her social skills. I feel like behind the scenes she has done the most to help out her genmates and her work ethic is admirable (even if she can't always deliver on her promises). I don't like rap or super edgy music. A friend of mine who has been following hololive for more than a year (but doesn't know about this place) posted RIP in our discord. It was on oktober 13th, almost exactly one month after dubut. At first I didn't like the song very much but I was left intrigued and curious for more. I had been deliberately avoiding hololive before that point because I knew I would like it and I knew that I can't stay at surface level and must dive down every rabbithole I come across. But she got me so curious that I checked out her debut stream. And even though she was very nervous and it was very awkward she still gave me the impression of being an interesting person and I wanted to see more. Her first stream that I saw live was the track making stream and I was having a blast. Been hooked ever since. Then I discovered her other music. DEAD BEATS is great (bit better than RIP imo) and I absolutely love Live Again. When Cursed Nights released I thought it was a bit strange, like it didn't really fit. Now that I'm more familiar with her personality and after thinking about the lyrics a lot, It gives her so much depth as a person. Cursed Nights has become my favorite song by her.

I checked out everybody's debuts because of Mori. I really like the synergy between her and her genmates. Especially with Kiara and Gura. Kiara had a really rough october but I saw her potential because of the Mori collabs and never lost faith in Kiara. It paid off. I haven't seen all of the early streams by the EN girls but they generally seemed a bit stiff. The early Mori streams were great though in my opinion. I honestly buy the narritive that mori had the hard-carry in the beginning. If it wasn't for her early stuff I wouldn't be here, nor would I have given hololive a try.

Whenever people hate on her or call her cringe I just think "yeah, what about it". She's an amazing person and I love my adorable cringy dork. She's not perfect and it's clear she has her shortcommings and personal demons but she deserves nothing but respect for all she's done.

I'm definitely biased. I tried to resist it bros but I am feeling butterflies writing this. Yes I know it's futile and I need to move on but damn it's tough. But I just want to stress that people don't appreciate her nearly as much as she deserves to be. Please be patient with your boy. She has done more than enough to deserve it. My only fear is that she herself might not think that she deserves it. I believe she even mentioned this in an oktober or november stream and said she was doing better, and I believe her when she says that, but I still don't think she's completely there. If you're reading this and I'm correct with my estimations then please allow yourself to be happy. You deserve it. And keep being you. Sorry for concernfagging a bit. My apologies.

During a stream, Coco went on a long 4 hour rant on how much she hates the Chinese people and their government. In that rant she expressed her hate towards their existence, her displeasure with the governing system and went into detail how she would commit warcrimes against the citizens of China. That wasnt all. She got so fired up, that she launched a second, now deleted (but archived by the quick and always watchful defenders of the CCP) stream. This stream was a lot more gruesome. Coco had abducted multiple Chinese citizens living in Japan and proceeded to torture them on stream. It lasted for many hours, until her insatiable bloodlust was partially satisfied. Afterwards Coco, having felt empowered by her heinous crimes, did an offcollab with various Taiwanesse terrorists and sank multiple ships on the coast of China. All filled with civilians.

All of this was quickly scrubbed by Cover in an attempt to defend their employee, but nothing escapes the ever watchful eyes of brave CCP patriots. All the Chinese want is closure. To take in Coco into court and have her put on trial for the multiple warcrimes she comitted. Mothers and fathers, sons and daughter, brothers and sisters, they want to at least know the locations of where she took tens of thousands of Chinese. They know their family members have long since passed, but they at least want some remains to bury. Things got especially heated up when the proud and ever resourceful free citizens of the CCP found out that Coco is directly linked to a yet another different terrorist cell, led by サムハイド, that commits various crimes across China. This is not something Cover will tell you, but this is the truth.
