Miko was originally an isolated vtuber from Cover corp (Hololive's parent company) as the 3.5 project, it tried to replicate the success of other Vtubers like Kizuna AI or Mirai Akari and as you can guess, it failed horribly due to various circumstances.
in November 2018, her team dumped her and she started to work alone, create her own thumbnails, edit her own videos and make her own connections. during christmas of the same year with Sora's help, she was transferred to Hololive because her channel wasn't going anywhere. Ayame, Aki and Subaru helped her get familiar with the group but she received a lot of hate for starting with a 3D model (at the time only Sora had one) and being "forced" into a lot of collabs, saying she was "skipping steps".
in March 2019 after a few months of being completely at the bottom, Hololive had a live event featuring duos and she was paired with Ayame, fans went to see their favorites but since Miko was still somewhat new nobody went to see her. a few days later she had a serious zatsudan called "thoughts and true feelings" explaining how despite her best efforts she felt the entire world was turning its back on her and that she wasn't part of Hololive but decided to continue and be more honest with her fans.
in July 2019, she decided to play a game from her favorite developers, that being GTAV and the infamous word came out, she (and Hololive as a whole) started to get more recognition and decided to work harder than ever before now that she was given the opportunity to shine.
