Get some sleep, have some good to eat for breakfast, you should be fine. Or you could just be out of practice. If so, practice more.

I'm trying MoF at the moment since somebody here said it was easy.
I did everything else fine but lost two lives to Hina due to lolgraze.
Aside from my fuckups in stage 2, it does seem possible to 1CC for a bad player like myself. I've played since April but I haven't 1CC'd anything yet and refuse to play easy modo.

I'm not that guy, but I'm in the same situation. I can 1cc EoSD on hard, but I can't clear SA on normal and only 1cc'd MoF after a fair bit of practice.

Uh... it's better to start with either EoSD, SA or PCB. If you start with MoF or IN, you'll pick up terrible bombing habits that'll hinder you later.

The final boss is a complete joke and most likely the easiest in the series on Normal (not much changes on Hard either, until Virtue hits you like a ton of bricks) so you can definitely handle it.

You get a lot of bombs, abuse that. Also ReimuA is actually good this time around.

>> No.3199921

I don't understand it either, but I've beaten Flandre and can't make it past stage three in SA.

I found MoF to be ridiculously easy until the final boss, so your mileage may vary.

>> No.3199943

>>3199921
To each his own, I've cleared everything on Hard (save UFO) and a few on Lunatic but UFO Normal beats the shit out of me.

>>3199915
I'd actually recommend MoF to beginning players, simply because having a lot of bombs helps with judging where to bomb and the reflexes required for deathbombing.

>> No.3199947

>>3199921
Don't feel bad. Yuugi is pretty easy, but getting used to the lasers and whatnot in the stage took me a while because I wasn't good at streaming until I played SA.

>You get a lot of bombs, abuse that.

Yeah, I didn't notice that until Aya where I was fed so much power that I could practically bomb through every single spellcard. I quit for now, but I'll give it a go for real later today.

Also, why are all the non-boss shots aimed? I keep getting squished in a corner and have to waste power bombing.

>>3199915
I don't really bomb all that much though, and I've played every Touhou game so far now. I'd just rather work my way from easiest to hardest than tackle a 1CC for SA or something. My skill should improve better that way, at least I hope.

You're doing it wrong if that's the outcome. Learn to reverse direction

>why are all the non-boss shots aimed?

If you're talking about MoF stage 4, it just requires some basic streaming to not get trapped. If you upload a replay, I can give some pointers.

>> No.3199966

Capturing spell cards on MoF is pretty annoying since you have to graze through everything and will most likely lose some lives to incredibly close touches. You should bomb as much as possible instead if you're not stocked up on lives.

I've never even made it to Yuugi, and I play SA on easy.

Whenever I play Touhou, I rely more heavily on my reaction time than I do on memorization. I think that's what gets me killed in SA: I'm unwilling to memorize the game, and it punishes me for not being psychic. I usually lose at least one life for trying to auto-collect when enemies that swoop in too fast to avoid are about to show up, which disheartens me enough that I simply say "Fuck it, this game sucks," close the game, and do something else.

I'm not a fan of trial-and-error gameplay or memorization, and most of the recent games seem to think that those two gameplay elements constitute a genuine challenge.

Are we talking about difficulty on which to start learning or to play once you've picked up the basics? Because if it's the latter, that chart definitely requires adjustment.

How I'd rank it for an experienced player on normal or higher:

EoSD (lol rank system) > UFO (if you're going for score and not simply spamming red or green UFOs, this is one of the hardest) > SA > IN = PCB (with any team other than the Border team) > MoF = IN (Border team)

I don't think many people care about scoring.

Personal tier list:

UFO > SA > EoSD > PCB > IN > MoF.

>> No.3200044

I'm having a lot of trouble with UFO (I can't get past stage 3 on hard) and I've beaten both IN and MoF on Lunatic.

All replays bomb through the cards too, or whore lives. It's so stupid. I'd like to be better at UFO, but at the same time, it just feels like MoF in a new shell.

>>3199984
you know techniques to switch directions on a long stream, though, right? If you know bullets are going to keep coming and you're moving towards the edge you dash over to the corner and change directions, because you move fast it opens up a hole that you can go right through. One of Kanako's last spell cards forces you to do this

>> No.3200072

I prefer aimed shots because you're actually doing something for half the stage. Play PCB on Normal and see just how little you have to move to get through it until stage 4.

If you're getting trapped you need to learn to stream, which makes you feel like some kind of bullet dodging legend. Tap slightly so the bullets aimed at you sail harmlessly past, then when you get near the end of the screen make a sharp diagonal-up movement to create a gap then start tapping down and back the other way.

SA ramps it up by using lots of aimed patterns over non-aimed patterns. Which is completely alien to the touhou players used to sleep walking through PCB, hence all the hate for it on release. Well, that and ZUN's love for gimmick patterns and shots.

You may want to give some of the Pc-98 games a whirl. LLS has a grand total of two attacks that you need to know about ahead of time, but both of those two are survivable even if you fuck up initially, and the solution to them is damn obvious.

At least, the main game does. I haven't gotten too far past the midboss of the extra stage, so I can't speak about the rest of it with any accuracy.
