Recognizing a specific sentence is the actual useless skill, and that's what happens when I use sentence cards. You want to be able to recognize the word in any context where it's used. You only need the context if the written form is ambiguous.

Of course it's "easy," the word is frequently given away by seeing the other words in the sentence without actually having to see the word. You could even take it to a hypothetical extreme: a lot of sentence cards I could intentionally hide the target word on the front side of the card and still understand that it's the card for "willow tree" or whatever because I have a good memory and started to associate the other words in the sentence with "willow tree." I could theoreitcally pass that card without actually learning 柳 at all. That's an extreme example, but the effect is still there. You're learning slower than you have to because of that, AND the actual anki study takes longer per card. That's true suffering. I need some help from those who use Google IME for typing in JP. I'm trying to find a full list of all the hotkeys that allow for changing input (or causing other effects). For some reason simply googling gives no useful results.

I know of Alt+` changes between Romaji/Hiragana, Alt+Shift switches the keyboard language, and Alt+CAPS switches to Kana. What other shortcuts am I missing? Somewhere this is a shortcut that I'm activating by accident that is causing input problems, and I'm not sure what it is.

Its a bit more complicated than that, and involves more than just IME (though I'm fairly certain IME is causing the issue). Which is why I was asking for IME shortcuts rather than asking for someone to fix the problem.
Anyway, the problem occurs when using IME and playing a game called Team Fortress 2. If I rocket jump a lot (just know that this requires pressing keys simultaneously a lot, including Shift, Space, and W,A,S,D) I'll eventually hit some set of keybinds that results in the chat log deleting itself after the character string reaches about 15-20 characters.
What I'm pretty sure is happening is that some combination of keys that I'm hitting is an IME shortcut that I'm not aware of, which is subsequently causing the in-game issues. Its pretty common for me to accidentally switch to Hiragana, for instance, but I know the keyboard shortcut needed to fix that. My hope was that somehow here would have some information on all the available IME shortcuts, so that I could determine what was happening, and thus how to fix it.
