City pop. A fuckload of City Pop. Especially Minnie, Miho Nakayama, and Tatsuro Yamashita. I mostly like the more recent end of the genre, before Jpop and Shibuya Kei took over everything.

But also, much of the Kayokyoku was part of a studio system with specific composers, lyricists and arrangers. Also, excellent string sections and sometimes horns.

The kind of music that would be performed live on variety shows with the house orchestra that had about 20 musicians. There was also a formula of having the same singer on three times for the same song like a vaccination schedule.

This isn't readily available because Japanese block and remove everything so that no one can see it. It's almost like it's some secret that should be hidden from public. So let's just share the full source, it's 2021, baby.

It's not rare at all, and this torrent has been available for… (checking) …almost 12 years. I mean that the formal status of video release prevents it from being found by almost anyone who hasn't seen it already. “We've made some limited edition disk in 2006, so it should remain unwatchable until the end of the universe. Yes, anyone can pirate it, but our logic stops at that”.

You can use a popular piece of software to check the file names, or just google the hash, and giggle at the amount of DMCA links being bigger than search results.

“On the internet”, yes. “Officially available”, NO NO NO, FUCK NO, DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.

And that's not some obscure musician ten people know about, that's a group with supposedly biggest worldwide presence that was chosen for the Olympic concert (but then gods got a good laugh at their cash-grab reunion).

Speaking of things that were previously limited. Clammbon uploading all their old TV/DVD only MVs on yt early last year in full length single handedly raised the value of the entire platform in my view

Well, they couldn't just bail, could they?

The classic, with its familiar vocal melody over rolling guitar notes, still makes me smile, though.

I’m going to beg here and ask if anyone knows what music video is this. Between 2010-2017, I remember watching a Japanese music video. It was pop rock/rock alternative and the band was like 3 men. One lead singer and 2 backup guys playing guitar and singing as a chorus. The video was about a boy in school who liked this girl and bought 2 tickets hoping to give one to her so they can go to a concert. He stayed a little while after school and stared out the window. He ended up hanging out with this girl. They go to a shrine and she gets him a onamori. She had a hair cut like this but she has a fuller face and a much fuller set of hair but in the same style. She was very cute. She ended up going and waiting for him for the concert, well into the night and waited outside the entrance area. While she went there, there was scenery of other couples going together and ended up leaving. He was late for some reason I don’t remember but he goes and everything ended fine in the end. All this is going on while the Japanese singer sings in a manly manner and his backup dudes sing as well while playing. One of them had a gold electric guitar.

I asked the Japanese thread in /int/ assuming my own countrymen can find the video but no one there knows it or has seen the video. I am an old man and am wondering if someone here knows what music video this is. I can’t even remember the lyrics
