Nah, I don't think it's that common but I guess some games bring more attention to it. Like Cage explicitly has "love" and "destroy" routes, Slow Damage has the madness bar filling up etc.
But Mashou Megane forks quite early (in Cidre's route particularly, with Peach's forking very late so you get surprisingly fucked up stuff even in the "vanilla" route.)
I remember when I played Paradise I was pretty impressed with the major bad ends. Like each route had a short, early game over, another short bad end with a eroscene, and then a much longer bad end that really felt unique and worthwhile, you could even treat them as fairly satisfying proper endings (the one where Azuma goes full psycho yandere for Mitsugi, the one where Matsuda goes axe-crazy, the one where Takara takes him home and locks him up..)

Also I'm glad you liked Gen. I actually haven't played Yagasaki yet because the accent was pretty intimidating and I just don't like his design so I left him for last in Open.
None of the other chars really seem match Gen in pure brutality and guro imagery, but Nitta's route is plenty fucked up too, between Nitta's fighting style and Nitta's old rinkan fuckbuddies and riding dying Nitta's half-limp dick while his guts are spilling to the ground, using the blood as lube.. Nitta himself wasn't endearing like Gen though. I assume you guessed it already but noodle-hair mommy is a yandere sociopath too.
Also feel free to play Close before you finish Open, even though it explains why this shit is happening to poor Teppei I don't think it really spoils the Open routes in any way. Shun in particular is both verbally brutal and a complete nutjob and his whole route is kino.

The romance was pretty touching too (once you get past initial doS hijinks and wife-beating).
