Personally the music plus the difficult gameplay makes the games very addiciting. The newer games have mediocre music at best and eye straining colorful backgrounds which makes me prefer the darker games (literal and figurative) like EoSD, PCB, IN, SA and TD.

I love the gameplay, music, characters, and fan content, but I got into it because I wanted to get into bullet hell games and they're a well-known series.

I think the games are fun, but the girls are definitely the main appeal of Touhou, because they are what makes every form of Touhou media enjoyable. Its not like the shoot-em-up gameplay is why I enjoy Touhou fanart

The games are fun. My favorite bullet hell series, the slower speed and rng means you need to rely on fundamentals instead of just memorizing where to be. Although memory helps.
