Not really. Took it on Stage 1, ended up with this after Stage 2. Not only is this only 4 cards (which is what you would already have at this point, or less if your run is starting with 3 cards) but them being random outside of the guaranteed boss card(s) means you don't even get what you want. I guess if you just want to unlock all the cards quickly, you can keep taking it so you can buy everything that appears at once, but other than that it's pretty pointless.

Personal experience for my normal/hard runs (no particular order in each tier):

Absolute legend tier: Mokou's feather

Either start with or grab asap tier: Byakuren Scroll, Saki wolf, Remilia fang, Dragon pipe, Raiko Drum

Extremely good on their own; might need another card to be busted tier: Yachie's hand, Eiki's coin, Sumireko's cards, pretty much any option shot minus Cirno

Very good cards that work best if you grab them early tier: Narumi's Jizo, Pachouli's spell, Momoya's Centipede

Very good, worth considering tier: Tenshi's rock, Eirin's Potion, Okina's door, Megumu's rice, Tsukasa's bottle, Tewi's foot, Kanako's offerings (though I recently stopped picking this one up because I think either the new collection line area is incorrect or the card isn't working the way it should)

Only if the below are my only other option tier: Nue's UFO, Keiki's Haniwa, Misumaru's Magatama, Yuyuko's ghosts, Mamizou's Tanuki, Miko's laser, Mike's cat, Takane's wallet, Nitori's Wallet, Suwako's frog, Yukari's Border, Clownpiece's moon

Lily's is better, but not great
if you combine it with Barley Rice and Byakuren you can get a ton of bombs for free (plus if you ever do need to bomb and have Lily available, you can just summon her during it to get a free bomb piece/life fragment)
her bullets are the exact same on every difficulty and every third summon gives you Lily Black with a Life Fragment
she will get more aggressive the longer she stays on screen so she does become number 1 priority, which is why I think waiting until you need to bomb to summon her is probably best

I've revised my calculation for the number of possible card routes. Compared to my estimate from before the full version was released, the numbers are even more ridiculous, thanks to the combination of three starting slots and the Blank Card. I'll just post the end results, but if anyone has questions about how I got these numbers, I can bore you with the details.

There are 17,344 possible starting configurations.
There are 62,818,827,375,064 routes through the main game.
There are 851,034 routes through the Extra.

That means it would take a single person about 3.5 billion years of nonstop play to complete every route. It also means that many possible routes will probably never be played, by anyone.

For starting states: There are 47 cards you can start with, plus the option of no card. Order doesn't matter here, but you can only have one of each, so that's (48 choose 3), or 17,296. But you can have more than one empty slot, so add 47 to account for every combination of one card and two empty slots, plus 1 more for the case of three empty slots. That's how you get a total of 17,344.
For shops: There are 53 purchasable cards.
At the stage 1 shop, you can buy any card you don't already have. So for each starting state, you can make (53 - N) choices, where N is the number of non-items cards you already have.
At the stage 2 shop, all those possibilities still apply, compounded on the stage 1 states. Of course, if you bought an item at stage 1, you can still buy that same item again. Additionally, if you bought the Blank Card at stage 1, you will get 3 new non-item cards, plus Takane's card if you hadn't previously had it. So for each of those Blank Card states, you have ((48 - N) choose 3) new possibilities.
At the stage 3 and 4 shops, all the same applies, except of course if you've bought the Blank Card already, you can't buy it again.
At the stage 5 shop, if you bought the Blank Card at stage 4, it works pretty much the same as before, except there are two boss cards, so you can potentially get none, either one, or both, depending on what you'd already had.
For the Extra, it works just like the main game's stage 1 shop, except you can't buy the Blank Card.

I simply wrote a program to iterate through all possible choices at each stage, grouping outcomes by patterns that are interchangeable, and tallying how many outcomes there are for each pattern. Taking a random line from the output as an example, the pattern "^^^6^I^4" means starting with three non-boss cards, buying Megumu's card in stage 1, a non-boss card in 2, an item in 3, a non-boss in 4, and Misumaru's in 5. There are 63192480 different ways to achieve this pattern. alone. There are 345,624 such patterns in the output.

However, while writing this I realized that I messed up. I didn't take into account that any of the three guaranteed cards you get from the Blank Card can also be other stage's boss cards. Given this, there are even more patterns and possible routes that I missed in the last post. Consider that number for the main game a lower bound.

The Extra second midboss card and first and seventh boss cards are nightmare RNG bullshit. First especially, that pattern was already ridiculous in Junko's fight where it was balanced around Pointdevice, here it's just unfair.

It's pretty much memorization so it can be tough. Here's a tip that saved my ass: on the screen before the boss with the white bullets, stay at the edge of the bottom left corner and don't move until you see one of the bullets coming horizontally towards you, dodge up, and then down back to the corner. None, really. Memorization helps a lot more so that you know when to spread and when to focus. You can throw on Reimu(amulet), Sanae(snake), and Alice to give you some extra help during stages, but Saki and any of the forward-shot equipment aren't really necessary since her base shot is so strong. I've reached the point where I can now reach Rika without losing any lives during the stage although I've noticed that my current strategy nets me a way lower score than I would get previously, so I don't get as many extra lives anymore. I played through the intervening attacks normally, and the cooldown conveniently ended right in the middle of the first wave of Dragon Eater. I think I discovered a bug in UM. When you unlock spell practice, spells are unlocked for all characters. If you complete a spell with a character on a stage it hasn't unlocked yet, practice will unlock for that character in that stage. For example, I didn't finish the game with Sakuya, but I could unlock stage 6 for Sakuya by capturing one of Tenkyu's spellcards.

Can someone please explain the DDC Sakuya A damage exploit to me? I wanted to fuck around with it because it seemed pretty funny but the actual damage boost seems really inconsistent, sometimes it's fucking absurdly huge and others it's just a very little boost. Is there some sort of specific timing for switching between focus/unfocus that gives me the maximal possible damage output, or what does it depend on? I notice sometimes the explosions are huge and other times they are really small, I assume that's what indicates the amount of damage they deal but I don't know how to maximize it.
Also for some reason it only seems to work when I am extremely close to the bosses, and if I am near the bottom of the screen the damage is almost completely negligible. As far as I know Sakuya's damage wasn't really dependent on distance to the enemy like Marisa's, so why does the damage of the knife explosions increase so much when I'm close to the boss?

I'd recommend using Marisa A for UFO, not because she's the best shot, but because her piercing laser removes frustration by letting you kill UFOs with precision.

Here's something you may not have realized: you can effectively trade bombs for life pieces. Instead of going up to the POC when there's a ton of stuff on screen, just bomb to auto-collect and (if you've timed it right) get a life piece. This is especially useful early-game, because your bomb stock resets when you die; if you start converting those extra bombs to lives, you'll have less to lose from a miss.

Do you mean deathbombing? You can try standing still in stages with homing shots and try to predict when the bullets hit you. It comes down to knowing your bullet hitboxes well and quickly reacting to situations where you can't escape.

The most retard-proof combination I tried is Eiki, Tewi and Eirin. Make sure to gather as many resources (money+bomb pieces) as possible in the first 2 stages and by then you'll probably need to take like 6 hits until you actually die. Basically Eiki and Eirin's cards tank hits for you and Tewi helps make both of them more sustainable. With that the only thing you need to buy after each stage is extra lives, and Saki's card if you come across it since that's always useful. Probably Kaguya's card too.

I mean, it is among the six out of twelve mainline Extras I've been able to clear, so technically I can't disagree, but it's definitely the hardest of those six in my opinion.
That aside, I've cleared with everyone except Mari, yet after dozens of attempts she's still giving me trouble. Unlike Sakuya, she can't shoot while bombing (or rather, Momoyo is invincible during her bombs), so I need to pack Okuu for Dragon Eater. Then I need some sort of homing equipment to end Shield Method before it gets overwhelming, and also to help out with Snake Eater and Mushihime-sama. But then I also need some sort of active card to get through Mine Blast and Kodoku Gourmet, and Mine Dump to a lesser extent. But having Mamizou is also really important for the later part of the fight. There are too many cards that feel required; she just has too many weaknesses to cover and nothing to make up for them.
I got to Mushihime-sama once and died on the third phase, so it's definitely possible for me, but I'll have to play at my absolute limit and have good RNG. None of the other characters were nearly as unforgiving.
