>Perfect Dark updated to 1.24 after like 6 years of silence.
I don't think people use that as much anymore.
It's not like pirating is popular over there in the first place. It's frowned upon.
I think some guy got years in prison for pirating One Piece like 2 years ago.

I changed my ISP recently and found out that I couldn't open ports so I had to use a VPN for Perfec Dark.
Yesterday I opened Perfect Dark with the VPN on, turned the VPN off after half an hour and PDark just kept working for hours even though I couldn't open ports. How does that work?

VPN providers collect your info as well so its not like its any different. In another case they only have you ip and in another they also have your billing info to go with your ip, VPNs are really only useful for getting access to region locked sites or going around release dates when there is different release dates in regions and avoiding bans i guess, on sites that haven't already banned VPN ips

Stop using terrible providers or just selfhost. There's tons of oneclick selfhost VPN services, but a proper provider is better. It'll never protect you if you somehow anger a three letter agency but it'll stop CnDs, which is all it's for.

Its not really about terrible providers, every thing have their price, and sooner or later all of VPN providers will be selling them, which is kinda of good since they kinda undermine google in sense.
But this is just me having drunken thoughts, dont mind me.
also sorry my ignorance or drunkeness, most likely both but what's CnDs?

They aren't because nobody is going to ask. Again, if you piss off a three letter agency it's over, but some random company in Japan, or Crunchyroll, or someone isn't going to get a judge to supoena the non-existant records or allow a wiretap. It's just not a real threat. It stops the automated letters for 3-5 a month and puts you just beyond the barrier to entry for automated data collection which is easily worth it.

>privacy isn't real
True, but tiers of privacy aren't real. You can't hide everything but that doesn't mean you should post every single bit of info about yourself to facebook every five minutes. Incremental improvements are improvements, VPN fearmongering hurts privacy minded people.

>>34793370
Sharing is caring, and if you're downloading your IP is in the swarm just like everyone else. It'll still get scraped by bots. You're just as fucked if you don't seed.

Over 70% of people downloading anime on nyaa are japs on residential IPs. Those who do it, do it because they don't think it's fair to have to wait and buy the expensive BD release that's meant (priced) only for people who are already fans if they miss episode 5, or if a friend watched the first episode and told them about how cool it is when there's no way the episode will get a rerun. There's also how for many VNs that aren't distributed digitally you have to buy used copies and 0% of that money goes to the creator anyway.
>>34793101
Some VPNs, like PIA, have already proven that they don't log shit in court. Do you think they'd enable the logs for a random fag who just pirates anime?

Japan kinda stands out in being the only modern nation without a real justice system. I think the conviction rate in Japan exceeds 99%. They're a shame culture, so they're not looking to do real justice. It's stuff like this why the Nissan CEO, Carlos Ghosn, came up with a daring escape because he knew the justice system is a kabuki theater.

As a giant American I wouldn't be scared of serving time in Japan. I would be like godzilla in Japan. I'm big/muscular even among my fellow Americans. The average male height in Japan is 170.7cm (5'6”) which is near our women's height. I would be bending over yakuza guys in the shower on the daily. #NoHomo

The average woman in the US is 162.1 cm. I wouldn't say that's near. Americans just over-represent taller women because they find them attractive.
