Always play normal or higher and never continue.

PCB is the easiest (despite what people say) and IN is the most complex.

Start with Mystic Square then move on to EoSD, PCB, then IN.

Easy Mode is forgivable, unless it's on IN and you'll still learning how to dodge. That game will teach you way too many bad habits if you're starting out. It's best to go chronologically, training until you 1CC Normal mode and beat Extra (The order, if you don't know, is EoSD, PCB, IN, and then MoF)

you can also spruce in Shoot the Bullet and Phantasmagoria of Flower View for Pattern and Random Spread practice (Respectively)

EoSC will be the hardest, since you can't see your hitbox. This is very good training for the later games, when you have to move around quickly, like at Kanako's Last Spellcard in MoF, or in PCB and IN's cases, for a higher score.

also, don't forget to do a few Lunatic Runs. You'll die quickly, but it's still good practice for dodging heavy swarms.

You NEVER play on Easy mode for it makes you lazy and never prepares you for the higher levels. You should also start on a 98 game (as I have stated) to get a true feel for the games. EoSC is also not the hardest of the games.

You know what? I've listened to your guys' advice, and here is what I've come up with.

Start with MOF because it really doesn't matter which game you start with, mix plays of normal mode and lunatic mode. you will get better. its been helping me alot, making runs in lunatic. the rest is all just personal preference.

It's hard to think of worse advice.

For realz now, just try playing the games in order of increasing difficulty. Move up whenever you're just getting comfortable. Easy modo is fine for a beginner.

Play all the games--EoSD (6) through MoF (10)--without worrying about beating any of them. That should stop you from developing any bad habits, like relying on IN's very forgiving version of deathbombing.

They can all be downloaded directly and easily, and no rapidshit. Last I checked, doujinstyle was an acceptable source.

Mystic Square is old but its one of the best

In addition to what I and the above Anon said, it's also a good idea to try out Mystic Square, if for no other reason than to increase your powerlevel.
