People do buy large quantities of food, and it is possible to make money that way, but to me the profit isn't nearly enough to justify grinding the raw materials. I estimate so far I've made ~10-15k selling foodstuffs, which isn't much considering trouble, time, skillpoints etc.

I just found out that majority of the quest can't be done while you are possessing someone in the party. Enjoy being the runner while getting killed in 1hit by the mobs if you are the mage.

I think Miners have it worst out of all the backpacker jobs. You really need some knowledge to get everything going. Also the job level 50 skill is supposed to be important, so good luck with that.

As a farmer I maxed out all battle skills before job level 20, because after that there are none. Not a single one. Not sure whether to get the traps, one looks more pvp-ish than anything, and the other has an impending nerf coming, if the japanese servers are any guide.

Here's a rundown of how all the classes level:
1-5, no class, everyone levels the same
5-15, backpackers and fighters level roughly the same. Mages have the most miserable time of their life.
15-20, mages start being decent. Fencers and swordsmen are great. Backpacers, scouts and archers are mediocre.
20-25, mages become the top damage dealers. Fencers are good, swordsmen are decent. Archers suck. Backpackers and scouts suck really bad.
25-30, mages rape face. Fencers are good, swordsmen are decent. Archers are bad. Backpackers suck really, really bad. Scouts are backpackers with no redeeming feature.
30-4x, mages, and fencers oneshot everything. Swordmen can handle themselves. Everyone else cries themselves to sleep at night.

Iron City and the northern city are the only other ones with anyone in them. I've been to the west and east as well, and while the camera angles out there are great there's shit to do, at least for the moment.

As long as it is cheap in the absolute sense, other players will buy anything. Buying a 300g item at 500g? Sure. Buying a 40,000g item at 35,000g? Eh, I'll have to think it over.

Ranger if you want to solo and improve drop rate. Farmer if you want to cook tons of delicious items. Merchant to ripoff other players and sell high to npc and Miner if you want to aim for blacksmith or engineer.

But seriously, all of them are good. Just not for your first 50 levels when you're stuck with merciless blow and not much else. All of the second classes, however, are important to the economy, and the technical jobs have good combat potential. If it's your first character, perhaps a ranger, the increased drop rates will make your life easier. Look at the class descriptions and skills, especially 2-2 jobs, and see if anything appeals to you.

LV34 vates need party for some grindan.

Anyone have any idea how to use Alchemist's Food Throw? We can't figure out how to. It's a passive skill too, and using a food item directly just heals the alchemist.
