I am partial to AKB48, now that my beloved Konno Asami has left Momosu to go to college (she still plays futsal and is in the futsal teams's group, which is nice).

But I don't approve of these kind of competition, it's unfair for AKBfags. Momusu were once National Idols, AKB48 is still underground idols. Can't really compare them in any terms: Popularity, wota support, sales, etc.
The only "cool" thing AKB has is it's lyrics which deal with "taboo" things in Japan (loli sex, bullying, enjou kousai, etc.)

Let the AKB fans enjoy their own music of choice and don't jump with Momusu > AKB every time AKB is mentioned(unless they get cocky and deserve to have the truth thrown on their faces)

MM is a nationally known pop idol group that makes their money off selling CDs. AKB48 is a stage performance singing group that preforms daily in the Akihabara prefecture of Tokyo that makes their money off ticket sells.

It's hard to compare both of them evenly because even though they both sing they do it in vastly different ways. So I'll start with MM first.


MoMusu doesn't necessarily have to be good because it's already an established group. Anyone who joins is automatically considered 'good' by association. The 7 and 8th gen members are just little girls who quite honestly suck. The guy who runs the group is batshit insane and picked them more on looks then talent. He also secretly introduced 2 chinese girls for no reason.

MoMusu sings happy sugar sweet lets all get along songs.

MoMusu, being a large group, alienates their fanbase. You're not allowed to talk with them or even get near any one of them. The problem this causes is you cause the fans to develop a obsessive compulsive disorder and with skimpy photobooks pretty much ignore anyone female. Japanese guys who like MM will literally worship them like they are Buddha and do totally insane shit. This includes things like, buying photobooks for no reason other then to jerk off to EVERY SINGLE picture in them and buying 50 copies of a CD and then throwing all but 1 away, just to increase their cd sells numbers.

Now the best way to describe AKB48 to those who have never heard of it is basically a Las Vegas Show. They have a stage theater on the 8th floor of a building in Akihabara (AKB is short for Akiharabara and 48 is for the number of girls in the group) that can hold about 250 people. They're not a new group and have been around since 2005, but they just now getting the attention they deserve.

You have to keep in mind that AKB48 is primarily a stage performance group. The bulk of their songs are preformed in well put together song and dance performance.

AKB48 is also different (and better then MM) because they don't just give a song to the girl with the best voice. In MM the girl with the best strongest voice leads the song. In AKB48 all the girls get to sing, and there are some solo lines but its nothing like MM.

AKB48 has a lot of songs that are worth listening to *IF* you know the lyrics. The instruments are well done, but the lyrics are what makes their songs. They have the usual happy love songs but they also have songs about Bulling/Suicide, Lesbianism, Sex, how life is boring. The way they sing THOSE songs is amazing and it's none of the punk/emo shit either.

The nice things about AKB48 is that you actually allowed to talk to them! You can even goto a 'hand shaking' even after the performance. They actually get to see their fans and can actually give them thank you cards. This makes for fans who are both male and female, and without making the guys into obsessive losers who buy their photos so they can jerk off all over them.

Also the girls in AKB48 are allowed to "do what ever they want" (their own words). They can hang out with their friends and go out on their own and have fun instead of slaving away for the company and being kept away from public.

Yes, normally Ai-chan or Tanakacchi gets the lead. But in the concerts that can vary widely. You even have solo songs of the members.

I refer to her as "Crazy-chan" (and you will too) because she is bat-shit insane, but in teh coolest way possible. She really works on another level that makes you want to know what the Hell she was thinking!
