Kokucho no Mizuumi (began airing 2 days ago. Promising crime/mystery drama with shocking fast-paced development)
This should be enough for one season but this summer is pretty stacked, there are 4 other dramas I wanna watch. Thankfully one of them airs the day after Kokucho no Mizuumi ends.

Going through Kore-eda movies at a crippingly slow pace. Last time I posted here someone recommended Maborosi from his older movies and I'm glad they did. This movie was surprisingly good. The very somber empty feeling it gave throughout with the glimpses of happiness was well done. Hope he has more like these in his catalogue.

Bullet Ballet was so cool, with only Tetsuo under my belt I came in expecting a relentless nightmare and instead I got a more high octane Wong Kar-wai meeting Paul Schrader. Loved the dark lyricism by the third act, really incredible visual storytelling all around, but especially at the very end. Really looking forward to more of Tsukamoto's work, what should I put on my priority list (preferably more in vein of this rather than Tetsuo - powerful movie, but not necessarily my cup of tea)?

Thanks for the recs, just watched Gemini, exactly following up on what I loved about Bullet Ballet and taking it to the next level. The fluid, heightened historicism was fantastic and I just love movies that could be great plays, but directors formally elevate them to the point where you'd lose something essential by transferring mediums. Fully Tsukamotopilled now.

I hope it doesn't turn into a supernatural drama. Everything but the brother scene indicate it's their shocked and weary mental state after what they did but you never know.

Watching episode 2, I can't help but think that this drama would have been better as an anime series with all the cliches and the somewhat bad acting. Even the annoying, cringe-inducing 3 girls would have been actually funny and cute on anime form. Made me want to drop it but just like Akimoto Yasushi's other dramas, the episode's ending made me very curious. The mysterious points are quite intriguing I'll give it that, they leave you hungry for me. Knowing Akimoto though, the conclusion will prolly be lackluster.

Watching the first one is enough. If you really want to watch a recent samurai movie with popular cast members, I would just suggest watching Iwane. It has a decent story and melodrama.

So I was looking for a documentary video some guy made on YouTube about a 1980-90ish scam involving mostly elderly Japanese people being scammed into buying worthless gold certificates.

What was so kino about this was that there was a part where said scammer was tracked by two hitman hired by the effected families and they were filmed breaking into the scammers appartment on live TV were they murderd him.

I tried to find this but I can't find it anywhere. It seems like it got scrubbed.
