Asking again in hopes someone can help. Can someone give me a rundown on latest happenings for Flower Knight Girl?
Like what are the currently standout/best/MVP characters to keep an eye out for or what are the really good characters if I want to clear the really hard challenges or climb tower effortlessly.

I heard there was a big balance patch that buffed every unit ever and it'd be a pain to go through everyone's kits so I was hoping someone could give me a quick rundown on that.

Characters are split into different types to focus more on what they're specific type require them to do.
It's ideal that you don't run a party with all of the same type.
Attack/Defend/Debuff are the primary units that start off your party and Support/Healer are there to fill the gaps that exist.

Attacker type are more self buff, they're not self sufficient so support is required. You're gonna need the usual stuff like crit/weakness/dmg/skill act from support, some healers can be used depending on situation.
Defend type simply refer to Counter and Intercept party, they simply got better at what they're doing but having 1-2 support with similar abilities as the team will improve it. Their overall survival has been greatly improved thanks to new abilities like damage reduction, special evasion, and self def buff.
Debuff type has been buffed significantly as you're no longer needed to have a whole party to reach debuff cap, healer and support types will fill in the holes that debuff had for years.

Balance update pretty much put most characters on pretty similar standing, only outstanding stuff will most likely require maxing out FM's that most players will not achieve. (Like Cattelya+Vevain, Threeleaf Arrowhead/Twin Leaf combos)
Previously existing good characters are still good at doing their job, some might even be improved slightly, like Dendro/Helianthus/Convolvulus/Meco/etc.
I think you would have more fun trying to get your waifus to work with what's newly available as a party's function is more depended on the type of support units you use now.

There's also solar party, but it's the usual 5 solar characters w/ Solar Effectiveness FM. They can fill gauge upon casting skill so they're not longer just "blast and die" type of party.
It also allows you to cheese most of the tower stages since balance patch have already powercreeped it, most of balanced attacker will 1 shot the stages in a pretty standard setup.
It's also not required to clear tower on hard, you can just do everything on normal and still get all the medals to empty out the exchange.

I personally have my fun trying to progress in videogames, gacha or not. It feels really good getting stronger in games and clearing stuff I couldn't clear before or trying to achieve completition of all stages for my own personal satisfaction because it hits that nice spot and it makes me feel good.
I haven't been able to beat some challenges like the Re:エノテラとアグロステンマ challenge and started really struggling on 80+ tower floors so I was wondering if there's some new powercreep or new buffed units that made some of these stages easier.

As for units, don't really have anyone I'd really like to make work. Maybe the special Tarragon version that summons a dragon because I find her cute but don't know if she's strong or good enough for these purposes.

Most of the stages now rewards players who look up the enemy abilities in battle (Top right corner button) as well as using the hints they provide you for each tower stage.

Enotera+Agrostemma stage in particular punishes player who tries to brute force the stage by giving them 2 types of damage reduction buff.
One for not hitting their weakness, and one for not dealing critical damage, which as a result may cut your damage down to 1/8.

Because it takes at least 3 turns for the dragon to even spawn, the only options you have is defensive. Buffs from the party will only affect Tarragon herself, not the dragon. The amount of damage output from the dragon is rather limited due to this restriction.

However she's can still provide a def buff back to the team so you have to option to run a counter team or perhaps some sort debuff team with heal.

The dragon's damage will greatly depend on Tarragon's TP so make sure you feed her both types of ampules, level her to 110, as well as oath affection her.

Some thoughts about jewel princess since I've been playing more frequently now, first they got rid of the skin shop but now I see current events are making gacha more pointless and they're starting to release most stuff on their paid step gacha, I guess they're heading towards iolite model where most of the new stuff is paid only unfortunately, also about this challenge arena thing sure it needed more time, only after the 3rd day got the gist of it but couldn't get enough points still, I must say I grew fondly of labradorite which carried me on this event, I always got her and her seasonal outfits pretty easy so I'm happy I found a chance to put her in a team and see how pretty good she was, I must also say the wiki is surprisingly complete with a brief explanation for plenty of characters and some of the main lore, kinda wish FKG wiki could explain more about their characters but since the cast is a lot bigger I can understand why is not the case.

Challenge arena was a shitshow. Literally not fighting anything but other players' previously made teams but it still stuffs all lineups stacked full of their broken shit. Even after figuring out a decent team, it still got clobbered trying out a tier without handicaps. So I never got anywhere even though I would've liked the reward girl. It really needed another week.

Anyway, I've managed to get a lot of the jewels I wanted out of gacha, I just have to find time to bother with the old events or go find where summer watermelon was available.

This isn't the normal reaction though and the 'person' losing his marbles over this is pretty far from anyone's definition of normal. Big balance patch can mean a lot more things than just character tweaks. It could include system changes, changes to certain quests or bosses, etc. Asking about the character buffs themselves is more specific.
Also there are a LOT of characters in FKG. How is he supposed to find out which ones were buffed? Sure he could just go straight to check what skill sets his favorite girls have now but how is he supposed to compare it to what's good or what's considered meta if he doesn't have a frame of reference?

To say "everyone's good now because of RG" when RG system happened a long time ago implies that nothing's really changed since back then. And the difference between the short answer and the essay post is that the essay explains why most characters are viable and gives specific examples of why they are i.e. old endgame content like tower being outdated now because of the balance patch standardizing most attackers to be able to breeze through the stages.
In my opinion if I were the anon I still wouldn't accept that answer because it still does not answer the question of who are the best. Characters are not made equal. There has to be a theoretical best Attack type party, a best Defense, a best Debuff, a best Solar party, etc. And yet there are never any resources on this.
Sure you can just go to the wiki and look up the skills for every single character and compare values for every single one of them and try to form your own theoretical "best" comp yourself but what's the point of having veterans around then? And as a newfag or returning player, you have no idea what the endgame content is really like without playing it for yourself, which is why these kinds of questions get asked because the veterans DO know and their output is more valued because of this. It's not a simple case of spoonfeeding because the one asking the question is legitimately at a loss with no other resources to go to. What do you want them to do, look up endgame videos posted after the balance date and gather data on what the most widely used teams are while having no idea what exactly is endgame content or if there's any context behind the teams being used i.e. could be someone just playing Solar for memes/fun instead of the comp being actually good or efficient. Lying isn't necessary, it's literally just applying the basic human rule of "Don't be a dick". If someone's asking a super open ended question then get them to narrow it down by turning "Who's the absolute strongest" into something more concise by asking them "Strongest for what?" or asking them what part of the game or stage in particular they need help with which works for any game ever I've played and encountered this question in because not every game has a clear cut winner or strongest so you have to make it clear that there isn't a one-size-fits-all solution.

After unlocking Salem, her drop in N2-5 is replaced by 50 of her gears, which you can farm to max her out eventually. Sitri s1, Balor s2, Belial SP, Lucifer base, anyone you want on the passives.
All rank 7, Lucifer is 2*, everyone else default *.
Balor s2 does a lot to delay boss moves so it might be tough without her, but I don't know what the 3*s I don't own do so maybe you have something that can be a replacement. Belphegor being a magic tank also helps a lot and I don't know if a physical tank can work in her place, but maybe. If you're spooked out by a few characters being near death by the end they'll be fully healed in the first few moves of the next fight when all the healers pop their SPs.

I grabbed the Balsam atk+dmg one since I was 1 off from 4*. If you have any useful atk/crit/dmg memories need one more to limit break, that would probably be a good option. There's some that I found useful without needing to limit break them like the Tampala +max HP memory for flowers that have increased dmg based on HP and the Lantana provoke/dmg up memory for girls like Meco and Hydrangea. The "right" one for you really depends on your current team and flower memories.

Well all rarities get one and every girl gets one base too, it's not necessarily a lot of them but they pretty long with hot dialog.
The variations for each CG are nice too, but eroge are still better by having multiple CG in one scene, so you can get both foreplay and sex in one long scene.

already got 12 characters to 100. The idle minigame, which even runs when you are not logged in, gives an insane amount of food resources. Just use all the gold you get at the start to upgrade the food cap and use an exploration team with different food preferences. If you log in the next day you'd probably have enough mats to get the entire cast to 100 affection.
All of the other H-scenes are locked behind the first awakening of 2 or 3 star versions of the characters which can be done with farmable materials which aren't that hard to get.
