What is this?

/jp/ has started on a project to edit MG's translation of Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni.

Are you in need of editors?

Of course! Anyone with knowledge of Japanese (and English) is welcome to join in and start editing with the simple and easy-to-use REtrans™ Web Interface. In the upcoming weeks, we'll be updating it to streamline the editing process even more.

What is the length/progress/ETA?

If everybody who has used RETrans and something else likes the something else better, how can one claim RETrans is superior?

>That does not explain why the Hatsukoi project is having no problem achieving in excess of 500 lines a day.

Does that person prefer RETrans to other methods? It doesn't really matter if someone is working and getting a decent pace. Just because you can put a lot of effort into something and have a good pace does not mean that your software is more efficient or superior. Find some people who have tried more than RETrans and prefers RETrans. If it is truly superior then people will agree. The fact that someone like Neko, who is an experienced editor, and has tried your software for a while and thought it was shit makes me think that it is shit. Find someone besides yourself, and who has worked with other methods besides just yours, say that RETrans is superior and perhaps I'll think it isn't shit.

>> No.4099331

>That does not explain why the Hatsukoi project is having no problem achieving in excess of 500 lines a day.

So, seeing as how the Hatsukoi project started in the beginning of September, it's been running for about 4 months now. At 500 lines a day, 60,000 lines... the total is 32,000 lines. Oh, so you guys have finishing it a couple months ago I assume?

Oh wait, you only have about 7000 lines done. I guess you accidently added a 0 and said 500 instead of 50. Or maybe you just like to lie, I don't know

At least they didn't complain nearly as much as you guys did. Also, don't forget that this isn't even a real "translation" project, whereas Hatsukoi is. You also have to remember that RWI's primary advantages are on the management side. Deploying the system and creating projects is easy, as well as keeping track of histories, statistics, and other such things.

>>4099331
We have over 11k lines done, 4k of which were in the last few days. (>>4084202) The translators were busy with other things for most of last year, which is why average rates are meaningless. But we have seen instantaneous rates of 500+/day, with as little as 9 seconds spent on a single line. Most of that time is going to be spent actually translating and inputting the text. Unless you can translate continuously at 360+ lines per hour, RWI is NOT going to be a bottleneck; your brain and hands are.

NScript. The dude who said he'd backport it for the CG Patch never showed up and followed through. CG patch should be relatively easy to do (well, given the fact that we already have modified images, the sprite patch), just takes time and effort, but would be compatible with BGI

Doesn't solve the real problem, which is the lack of voicepatch. However, if a few anons are willing to copy and paste about 60k lines into 0/result.txt for the original Higurashi, then Phiber (Eden's hacker) has indicated that he has a method in which he can make a voice patch (only requirement is, yeah, ONScripter). There are people ready and willing to take up the task, we just need to bridge the gap and port it ourselves. I'd say it's of critical importance, as it would definitely amplify/benefit the experience of playing the game, whereas the editing effort will just I don't really know anymore

We've definitely derailed from the imperatives. That's all.
