I'll be honest guys, I feel like give less of a fuck everytime I do some word xk deck or something. I'm barely giving a fuck if I remember the word or not, doesn't really help me at all with immersion, while on the other hand seeing a word a few times in immersion is the only thing keeping my retention. This specially true for words that appear with a thousand variations.

On the other hand, I'm liking the wanikani deck, just to help me identify radicals and kanji parts, but I haven't even come to a point where it starts with spelling. So 20 new cards a day seems rather slow for a deck with 18k or something.
Anyone else done the wanikani deck? Or perhaps a similar kanji radical study?

I think one of the answer to the previous question is that wankani hard limits how much you can do so they can milk your subscription for longer, anki doesn't have that limit but at the same time I have no reference for how much to do either.

Lies, I did actually start with the 'kanjitransition', it doesn't do radicals at all and just drop whatever convoluted words there be, the ordering is kinda trash too. the paid version locks kanji until you get the radicals they consist of correct 3-4 times i think
then it locks vocab consisting of those kanji until you get those correct the same amount of times

so its a bit more restrictive than anki, just keep that in mind if you wanna go at your own pace

Not sure, it doesn't "level" because its anki, it does separate in three subdecks tho:
radicals - kanji - vocab
And it seems ordered in such a way that go through the entire subdeck first. That is why, for example, I've been doing the main deck but haven't seen a single full kanji yet.
Perhaps raising the new cards on the main deck only and then doing a bit of the subdecks at a time?

I'm just checking it out now, and apparently I'm already past halfway into the radical subdeck. Maybe I'll just stick with the order, but given that its reasonably easier to absorb, I could up the new card rate a bit.

your enjoyment of the listening is clouding your judgment. if you approached both methods in a more neutral fashion you'd find reading to be much easier than listening.

as a beginner when you can't understand anything, if you have a big brain there's nothing entertaining about either approach. so all that's left is a cold hard analysis of their difficulty and the big brain will conclude that listening is harder.
