hey /jp/ I have a question.

Maybe, it's b/c Type-moon VNs are not my cup of tea, but is it just me that finds Fate/stay night extremely boring?
Not just FSN, but Tsukihime too.

Tsukihime's fight scenes are soo tedious, it drives me crazy. Other aspect was interesting enough.

But FSN.... It doesn't end, they dont stop talking about some weird concept i couldn't care less about, etc etc.

I loved VN like Clannad, Utawarerumono (despite too many fuck scenes), Saya no Uta, etc etc.

I don't know why this company is so overrated.

Trolling really doesn't accomplish much except making your dick feel slightly bigger. How much bigger do you need to get man.

And on that note, it's not even your real dick anymore. It's fictional. It doesn't exist. Just like this net persona. I'd suggest just dropping it and realize the futility of it all.

That's the power levels. It also consists of lots of talking about strategy for upcoming fights as well.

Their fantasy world didn't blend in.

Good writing shows, instead of tells. I think talking about concept is what weaker pieces of literature do.

ie. Spirited away. While i saw that movie, everything flowed. Not for a second did i doubt what i was seeing. and Miyazaki showed the rules of their world. Instead of having 20 min session and telling it to us. that is awfully boring. It's like a lecture.

People like Type-Moon's stuff _despite_ the writing, not because of it. Nasu isn't a good writer, but he's good at coming up with ideas that stay in your head.

While it may receive disproportionate attention from fans Nasu does spend too much time on the different rules and powers and such. More so in F/SN than Tsukihime. Mostly I just don't care about the "Nasuverse" in general, unlike most Type-Moon fans.

In both Turkeyhandle and Fall/Semester Mike I would trudge through the bad internal monologue with some difficulty, then lose myself for tens of minutes in picturing how I would myself act in the same situation... And finally snap back to reality when I was forced to do something illogical instead.

So yeah, Nasu isn't what I would call a "good" writer. But he has talent in coming up with immersive scenarios. It's a shame the both "games" are so non-interactive in the end, because if the reader was given more opportunities to act the way he wishes, these things could truly kick ass.

>> No.4167850

>>4167754
He establishes a universe that has very different rules and has a plot setting that relies on them. And the battles are not the only focus by far. Of course he will expand.
That's where we come to an actual problem as a writer, over exposition. Though considering how many things people not seem to get or interpret properly, it seem the 'over' is not enough.
If you cannot immerse yourself to the setting for whatever reason, I guess it makes it harder to like this shit in overall.

>> No.4168212

The fighting scenes in FSN could get a bit boring for me, I thought they were done better in Tsukihime but the fighting scences weren't the best bit of either game for me.

FSN definitely has a lot of flaws in its narrative, anyone who disagree is a blind fanboy.

It's not that bad otherwise, Shirou was well developed despite the fact this development felt a bit too spoonfeeded at time, the setting was pretty interesting and well explored too.
There were a lot of moments though when the it felt like Nasu thought he had a fucking great idea and masturbated about it for pages and pages, often repeating the same thing again and again every 2 lines.

Also the prose was far too bland making the text seem really unimpressive, but that's probably the fault of the translator.

8/10 VN, there are better translated nowadays.

Huge problem in the pacing, you are completely deluded if you didn't see it.

No subtlety at all in the characterization, how many times for example did we have to see that town in fire flashback?

Over-exposition in the form of lots of wall of texts, that's a lazy way to create a world, that's once again a problem of subtlety
