Pokemon is great because it covers a lot of shounen/JRPG common vocab, so if you're into those things pokemon will give you a lot of the vocab for them.
Kemono Friends uses really simple language but prepare for lots of biology and topography terminology.

can someone explain the meaning of the double dash at the end of the sentence? search engines ignore the character and stuff like 'japanese double dash' brings up "buy mario kart double dash japan imported"

I realized I don't know the difference in pronunciation between y- syllables and j-syllables. And when I google it, I only get attempts at explanations using English words as example, which isn't very helpful as I'm ESL. If I needed a very fixed logical reason to learn a language, I'd be monolingual by now.

I learned english because most of the internet was in english, movies were in english and videogames were in english, I didn't give much of a thought, and it turned out much more useful.
Nowadays English is massively useful for acessing all types of additional sources, but this wasn't what motivated me to learn it.

Tried to learn Spanish/French/Russian/Polish for Logical reasons, and kinda died halfway there.

Learning Japanese because the things that become more acessible gradually are interesting to my life. Be it media, fun, anime, alternative culture, curiosity how a highly developed alternate world works, whatever keeps the spirits up.

To bother on language learning needs some love affair with the language itself I guess. (and related contents it opens door to)
Whatever is fun, even if unserious, is a motivation boost.

Serious reasons aren't very motivating. I mean I already have to deal with enough serious stuff in my mother language.

they only work if you send them to your kindle account. i don't use the kindle app on pc (i only read on my actual kindle) but you can download your uploaded documents from the kindle cloud.

usually i just upload my epub to drive, then share it to the kindle app to add it to my library (pc version of send to kindle doesn't support epub yet i think)
online though, people really seem to like calibre

I don't think I know anyone who is really good at Japanese who is self-taught. Maybe only one actually, but he's incredibly bright, like genius level. Most people get just good enough to hold a conversation in Japanese, but still make lots of grammatical errors. I think everyone needs a good teacher/class to really learn proper Japanese.

I took some Japanese in college, but it was the intensive language classes that really boosted my skills. I did a summer course in America, a summer study abroad course in Japan, and a two-week course when I first came here on the JET Program. After 3 years of college Japanese and a year of living here I passed JLPT N1 on my first try.

I'm having issues getting pictures into my cards using anacreon's script. For some reason, it refuses to automatically make and add jpeg or webp images, even though I'm able to screenshot in jpeg normally. But png seems to works fine for some reason. Any ideas how to fix this?

sometimes even voice actors who are supposed to be super standard pronounce some words differently from what pitch the dictionaries give, even when it the dictionaries confidently give only one pitch for that word
I think only the most common words have actually 'incorrect' pitches and once you reach a certain level of rarity they're not said enough for japanese people to really notice when someone says it different than usual
