the way i see it is that the moderation team actively sees 'old djt' as an enemy group to persecute severely while hololive posters and you know who are a friend group that they allow do anything. the hidden names of the same discord namefag system allows them to hide their bias. there will never be objective rule of law in any system and accountability doesn't exist, it is better to be under a system that doesn't see you as an enemy.

>> No.42902394

>>42902355
There clearly isn't any hiding going on with how blatant it is, though, so you aren't gaining anything from the accountability. And moving past the huge namefag ego issue, there is the fundamental problem that knowing exactly who you are talking to breaks down the core mechanic that made DJT special. Granted, in a general you eventually know who most of the regularly visiting anons are, but there is still that wonderful pseudo-anonymity and all the freedoms it affords. Discord is the complete antithesis of that, and you can only enjoy what it offers if you're a failed normalfag seeking to make closer connections and direct online friends. But DJT was a hangout room, which is different.

I have never seen any online room where everyone has a nametag be fun in the same way an anonymous general can be. I don't want to chat with known individuals, or I would have joined a local club or gamer group instead. You probably seeked the Discord model from the start because there is no question it is radically different and far more personal. I mean, it's just one step away from a fucking IRL group chat. I find that lame and a turn-off. I enjoyed DJT because it was funny, witty, and spontaneous in a way that let you connect and disconnect whenever you want. There's no real disconnecting with these chat servers because you're buiding a persistent identity forever

>> No.42902445 [DELETED]

I don't know if you're the same anon but someone a few posts above was implicitly shilling the servers, and they've been doing that for a while if memory serves. Anyways, I want something close to the DJT experience, and I know Discord isn't it. So I will cheer on the anons fighting to get DJT moved to /trash/ because it's the only glimmer of hope I see at reviving DJT, or at the very least recreating an experience close to the original. It's not like anyone has a better plan - it's all doom and gloom here these days

I still do not quite understand the distinction between hiragana and katakana or why it's necessary but I have been able to get a basic grasp on reading hiragana and can actually pick out syllables.
My goal for now is to be able to read signs and menus so that I'm not a helpless foreigner who can't read any of the language when I go to Japan during Golden Week

>> No.42902522

What I'm struggling with right now is where hiragana becomes katakana or becomes kanji.
For instance, I have the theatrical poster for Kimi No Na Wa hanging in my bedroom and I can read the character for "no" (の) and pick it out as hiragana. However, "na" is katana (名) and so I think is wa (は), and Kimi (君) is in what I presume is kanji as opposed to きみ
In all likelihood I will probably not start writing a ton as of yet since my focus is more on speaking, but at what point will I start to understand better where hiragana morphs into something else?

>> No.42902573

名 is a kanji. kanji is used for words, such as in this case, name and you. は and の are grammar particles.
the best piece of advice is that you know so little about japanese that you shouldn't ask questions and just start studying these topics, since the only response to this as a question is to read up on the language.

Friends pls help, I was wondering about how to form a sentence specific structure in Japanese but a having a hard time finding out how.
It is: A is B and C is D. (Or A is B while C is D)
For example, I explain to someone: Bread is a food and/while milk is a drink.
My problem is the and/while in the middle, as well as how です works in the sentence, Is it only needed at the end or after the A is B part as well? How do I connect them into one sentence? Is that even natural to do or would I just say AはBです,CはDです.
Thank you.

Was thinking of putting together a Powerpoint about the Japanese language to share with family and friends just to give a general idea of what it's like (in comparison to English). A little about the history and what makes it unique. Any particular points stand out that'd be fun to share? Things like how there isn't a future tense (separate from present), no plural forms (generally), and of course the three writing systems (kanji, hiragana, katakana). Also, it being a subject-object-verb language, but both the subject and object are often optional. Any other things like that come to mind, or common misconceptions worth clearing up?

Holy shit, I have never seen anyone this retarded. The first reading of DOBJG is done, so you can use it as an effective reference in the future. Ideally one reads all of DOBJG then uses it as a reference for the next few months of reading, and when they start to struggle, they read DOIJG which is also a good time to reread DOBJG.

"ピラミッドには謎が多いんだ" is a Japanese sentence that can be romanized as "Piramiddo ni wa nazo ga ooi nda." It can be translated to English as "There are many mysteries in the pyramid."

In terms of grammar, "ピラミッドには" (piramiddo ni wa) means "in the pyramid" and is the topic of the sentence. "謎が多い" (nazo ga ooi) means "many mysteries" and is the predicate, describing the topic. The final part, "んだ" (nda), is a contraction of "のだ" (no da) and is used to emphasize the statement, indicating that the speaker is imparting new information or expressing strong conviction about what they are saying.

Sure, let me break down the sentence further:

"ピラミッド" (piramiddo) means "pyramid" in Japanese.
"には" (ni wa) is a particle combination that indicates the topic of the sentence. It means "in" or "at" in this context.
"謎" (nazo) means "mystery" or "enigma" in Japanese.
"が" (ga) is a particle that marks the subject of the sentence. In this case, it marks "謎" (mysteries) as the subject of the sentence.
"多い" (ooi) is an adjective that means "many" or "numerous." It describes the subject "謎" (mysteries).
"んだ" (nda) is a contraction of "のだ" (no da). It is a sentence-ending particle that adds emphasis or provides explanation. It is commonly used to state a new piece of information or to indicate the speaker's strong conviction about what they are saying.
So, altogether, the sentence can be translated as "There are many mysteries in the pyramid."

does anyone have any idea what she means by 股かけ? tried googling it but the one thing that came up doesn't seem related at all.
What I got from the whole thing it is that she used to be an idol but got fired because she got a bit too close or too intimate with the other members?

I've been reading the rest of the manga just fine, these are the only pages that tripped me up, probably because she's using euphemisms or something.
manga is ケイヤクシマイ

reading easy shit after finishing something hard feels weird, like I'm not reading in the same language
I'm playing persona 3 after finishing a couple of chuunige and while I'm still mining new words it's more by habits than necessity, the fact that there's not hours long dense action scenes with weird philosophical and cultural metaphors, purple prose, ancient chinese kanji and occult vocabulary that make me cry in pain almost make me feel like I'm reading in english and make me feel guilty

That makes sense considering the meaning I found. Thanks!

"二股(ふたまた)" means "two-time".
"股かけ" is abbreviated as "二股 を かける."
"股かけ" is make sense but we don't use the expression usually.
I feel that this phrase is casual and unique to teenager.
In this case, "二股ではないよ" is common.
