If you like grinding hard in Elona, then OOMSESTepNC is way better than Plus. Attribute uncapping so you can go beyond 2k, insane grinding methods where instead of raising your attributes with herbs you kill mobs that drop rods of wishing and end up with hundreds of them. OOMSESTepNC is THE greatest xianxia game ever made. Sadly the creator has stopped development, but as it works really well, and there's still tons of content to go through.
It also has a bunch of other features that carry over from other omake variants like extra gods, South Tyris that's different than Plus, and a customizable continent that works like a played owned house, a few extra guilds including a prostitution guild. There's a blacksmithing mechanic where you can upgrade your weapons yourself, but it's a giant pain to level.

If you like Elona for roleplaying and making playing with your waifus/husbandos, Plus is probably better, but if you like the powerleveling aspect of Elona or Disgaea, then OOMSESTepNC is a straight upgrade.

Recent changes to E+ have made the early game incredibly easy, to the point that I think you could beat NT in ~10 hours without any powergaming strategies (e.g. overpowered pets) or starting from a gene. Feels kind of silly but I don't hate it, just like I didn't hate the PP skill cap at 15 vice 50.

Ano has added a ton of pure roleplay stuff recently (which was apparently part of his master plan considering the hundred+ special actions he has added since he started) so I imagine the slime mold will either do more in the future or it's purely intended for somebody to roleplay using a healing slime to give a pet a missing limb... or something.

You could theoretically use them for heirship on a mutant at the start of the game to develop a full set of slots (12?), wear disturb growth equipment to clear North Tyris, go to Gavela to max out at 15 slots, then have the added slots per level to get 27 slots. Good point, being able to inherit them might make them useful for that. You can only use a slime mold to gain a slot if you don't already have a slot of that type, right? Mutants start with Body and Hand (and Shoot/Ammo of course), so you could gain one each of Head, Neck, Back, Ring, Arm, Waist, and Leg.

It doesn't bring back EXP to the snail's pace of vanilla levels though, but to Plus 1.9 levels, which I think had a good balance for the amount of content in Plus.

Personally I'd say try a lich, they get huge racial bonuses nowadays. And yeah, getting all your gear to +2 or so makes a big difference.
What fighting styles have you been going for? For a new player, I'd probably recommend two-handed melee and/or throwing grenades. You can always switch to something else later after you're more established.

It'll be a bit easier since
1: floors aren't randomly generated so you can run upstairs to escape enemies and not get mobbed by the newly generated enemies in the floor you ran to
2: you probably won't meet those caster enemies which are lightning bolting you and your allies to death
After that, or before, you should go to port kapul and do the quests to unlock the gene machine. Mainly for the one free additional monster ball you'll get which you can use to catch one of the better early game pets. Make sure to bring the gene machine back home afterwards.

How do people get up to date information about skills? For example, I heard from somewhere that having extra hands gives you more strikes as a martial artist, but others have said that it only gives accuracy. I don't know what is true. I also don't know how dual wielding works with 3 hands, etc.

For Martial Arts, you get extra attacks by equipping gear with the "It increases the chance of an extra melee attack" enchantment. As long as all your Hand slots are empty, you can get up to 8 attacks total, but you'd need a lot of extra attack enchantments to pull that off regularly.

Getting additional attacks with more Hand slots is when you're using weapons rather than Martial Arts. I don't roll that way myself, so it's been years since I looked into it, but I think you can get up to four attacks per weapon; again, based on how much extra attack enchant power you have.
Anyway, tf you want to try it out, be sure to turn on the Custom-GX's "(Custom-G)" gameplay tweaks to revert Ano's bizarre, arbitrary nerfs. Definitely "Disable chain attacks", and probably "Apply skill buffs" and "Apply damage calculation buffs".

Guys can I be honest? I've loved Elona for ages and it's been a huge inspiration for me to work on game development myself, and I've been looking forward to Elin for ages, but this Kickstarter is really making me feel pessimistic.

Yes, but selling each of those stages as individual things you have to buy for increasing costs is not.
If you buy a lower tier package you get early access but not "Earlier" access. If you buy the higher tier package you get "Earlier" access but not "Earliest" access, You need to spend 8800 yen to get the actual early public release, which is stupid.
I already hate the idea of selling early access in a game, but splitting it up into multiple stages is just horrible. It especially doesn't help that it could easily be a very long time between alpha's release and beta's release, and between beta's release to whatever ""Early access"" is supposed to be.

The kickstarter is not particularly well planned, but that's not really worth worrying about. They are planning on adding a lot more wish backer slots (additional higher tier slots, plus new slots that are the wish tiers without physical rewards), which does have me worried, especially considering how 'powerful' they can be. If it's a doomed item, you need a vanish curse scroll. Otherwise, I think blessed holy water works too, but it's rarer since you can only draw water from the holy well in Noyel once a year or some shit. IIRC, if you worship Eyth, he can also turn bottles of clean water into holy water for free.

I forgot where I read this - maybe somewhere on the Elin's Inn (what it was known as before just being 'Elin') subreddit - but Noa was for quite some time was quite resistant to the idea of a starting a patreon or kickstarter. He was particularly afraid of taking money from people when he wasn't sure when he would be able to release a 'complete' Elin, or if he was unable to complete it at all. But I think eventually someone from that subreddit or its Discord that was helping to publish any news on it managed to convince Noa to set up a kickstarter to help pay for the development of Elin, and here is where we are.

But yeah, the current Alpha is quite limited because the concept of Elin changed a few times as well. From Elin's Inn, a 'top-down game' similar to Elona where you run an inn but everything runs in real time, to an isometric 2.5D colony sim, to just what might've become 'Elona 2' where you are just an Adventurer but in the isometric 2.5D view, to the current build where it looks like the 'colony sim' elements from earlier were combined with the 'Adventurer' build.

That's what developers always say on their Kickstarters, but inevitably some awful shit gets through one way or another. You have blatantly obvious cases like in Undertale where a Kickstarter backer's character was clearly unwanted, but clearly the developer couldn't actually remove said character anyways, or games like Colossal Kaiju Combat that had a huge amount of trouble because of overly stubborn furry backers.
I have very little idea of why this happens, but it's clear that Kickstarters saying "We can refuse content we don't like" doesn't give the creators complete control over what content gets added in. I've heard that there's a legal obligation to fulfill backer goals, so if a backer constantly demands their horrible content to be added in and refuses to backdown or accept compromises, the devs can't do anything about it. Basically the devs saying they can refuse lore unfriendly content isn't really true.
