Me too! I've had my hair natural black for the longest and I feel I'm almost ready to go to a chestnutty brown, and I've really been wanting to do two tomed. But I'd have to do brown/darker brown or brown/black because of my skin tone. The main problem is finding a dye that I think will achieve the colour I want. But luckily I stumbled across one earlier today that just may be it. So excited.

Same here. I've been thinking of going to get my hair dyed professionally since in my expreience it's very difficult to go light from almost black on one's own.

I've also been thinking of getting extensions again so I might as well get it all done at once. My hair is fairly short, too. A few inches past my chin, in fact. It WAS to the bottom of my shoulders but the stylist ended up taking off too much when I went to get it trimmed. I'm glad to see that shorter hair is coming in to style.

Yeah I'm just so used to doing at home colour that I don't think I'd go to a salon. Also I'm not in the position to be paying how much they charge for colour, especially when there are not even good trustworthy salons anywhere near me that a) have experience with bringing black to the colour I want or b) have any experience with my kind of hair texture. I'd rather not pay ten times the price to potentially have my hair ruined anyway. When in my experience I do just fine on my own lol. I recently got [I made them myself lol!] extensions and i love them so much. I just bought some honey brown and ash blonde ones, going to try and see if I can't fashion some nice "retro" chunk colours with them. I love extensions SOOOO much.

>>4356327
Yeah, I find nail pens a little too expensive for the effect, for me at least. since i'm pretty handy with nails. But they also have the little striper polish bottles that have the really super thin brushes for design making. But also fif you already have a few colours that you like you can just get some thing "artists" brushes, dip them in the polish bottle and do it that way. Just be sure to clean them with nail polish remover after every use, you can save quite a lot that way. I already have a pretty extensive nail polish collection so that's what I do, also I just buy the cheap $1-$3 nail polishes. If you "invest" in a quality topcoat then it doesn't matter if the coloured polish was cheap. LOL.

>>4356323
Yeah rhinestones falling off can be hazardous lol. That's why I suggested really small ones and then if you paint over them with like 3-4 coats when first applying and maintain them like you would colour [applying another topcoat every 1-2 weeks] they're WAY less likely to fall off. I've never had the problem, and I actually break my nails a lot with my foolishness.

I was really upset because I love their blue black [the blue fades fast but it's like that with all blue black, especially boxed] and their 100% bleach blonde worked well on my hair the few times I tried it. so if I had just put it straight on my hair, which I almost did because it was late and I was tired, it would have been damaging for no reason lol.

No one believed that I did it at home with a store bought dye at first lmfao. This was a few years ago.

Yeah the ashy soft brown colour that's in now is really cute, but that's one i feel you'd have to bleach->tone->dye->tone again to get right. That might be a little difficult at home for someone who's never tried before. Unless you were willing to really research and read up on it first lol. I think "bad lace" is okay for gal clothes. Of course not if it's horridly scratchy but the majority of lace on gal brand clothes looks bad quality but is actually nice and soft.

Plus I think cotton lace would look a tad out of place in gal clothes.

When it comes down to it, there really is no good or bad lace, it all just depends on how it's used.

Good lace is made of cotton and doesn't feel rough to the touch. Instead it is plush and soft. (Venise, cluny, eyelet, etc.)

Bad lace is scratchy and rough and gives a spidery appearance when held up against another fabric. (Raschel lace is an example.)

Here are a few images I found, sorry too lazy to put together save then upload.

http://a33.idata.over-blog.com/1/14/98/18/tsubasa-copie-1.jpg long loose tee, slouchy hat, stockings and sneakers. Cute.

There are some links to some on everyday_gyaru on livejournal. I have some scans from some fashion magazines I recently downloaded, too.

I don't know how much help I can offer, though. I myself am still working on my own. (pic related. It was taken before I remembered to add my highlight.) I've improved on the eyes, but I need to get better at contouring and master the nude lip before I'm satisfied.

Yerah I find that outside of gyaru fashion, or anything that looks similar I really dislike uggs. But My mom and sister both have a few pairs and I wore them the other day in a rush to walk the dog, they're actually really comfy. So since they look cute with some gal I'll prob be experimenting with them at some point.

No wonder why /jp/ hates the opposite sex so much. This is not the board to be vain; that's what /cgl/ and /fa/ is for. You make all femanons look like retarded sluts, go away. (well, actually, maybe I wouldn't disagree with that)

In truth it's actually kind of...faint from afar. I don't like the bottom line to be too bold. Since you're technically supposed to line just under your waterline it can make it look like your lower lid is droopy sometimes. I plan on working on my lips next. They're kind of a dark color so it's hard to make them nude. I've always been against the "concealer as lipstick" thing though.

>>4361895

Yeah I do. I love, love LOVE them, also I think the addition of circle lenses can really take someone's gal look to "the next level". My favorite brand is GEO I've got quite a bit of experience in the circle lens dept and I find that brand to be the best bang for your buck. Also the fact that they now come with the authenticity scratch off codes really puts my mind more at ease about buying cheap things that I'm putting on my eyes.

>>4357089
I said this over on the original thread in /cgl/ but the main thing that really makes a look GAL, imho, is the hair and makeup. They go hand in hand, both have to look good. If you look at the fashion aspect of it, as far as clothes, there are SO many subsets that really any fashion, paired with the right hair and make could look just dandy as gal.

>>4357463
I don't religious read any gal mags but i love looking to them for inspiration and the latest trends. That said, my faves are Popteen, Ranzuki, Ageha and Egg. But I'm open to all of them. It really boils down to what your fave style of gal is.

No I don't think so, just don't mistake nude lips for lips that blend COMPLETELY with your skin tone. That usually does look strange. You want them to be close to your skin colour, but still with a little bit of pinkyness or roseyness, some kind of colour. That's why most will add a sheer gloss or chapstick over as the last step.

>>4361748

Oh, I forgot to mention that a general theme you'll see, despite what flavour gal it is, layers are big. Skirts + tights/ leggings, shorts + tights/legging, long shirt + shorter shirt + Vest/Cardigan + Jacket etc etc

>> No.4362302

Agreed. The way you layer something can take an otherwise "ordinary" outfit and make it more gal. How you accessorize has a lot to do with it, too.

Haha, you're telling me. I bought both, ended up selling the Ash ones to a friend [I bought ten pairs of new lenses when I still had 6 perfectly good pairs]
What is your skin tone? And what type of make do you usually do? that always really helps me when I'm deciding. Yeah drugstore makeup is my love, also my skin colour changes A LOT so I would hate to be going through $30 compacts so quickly. MAC does have great eyeshadows, and their eyeshadows, in retrospect aren't that expensive. Only about twice the price of drugstore, but compared to other high end lines super affordable. I'm thinking about buying a few in some neutrals that I use for my everyday look.

>>4362256
I do, most definitely. It was my interest in anime and the Japanese "way of living" [versus the average American] and the landscape that I even found out about gal. And the thing I loved about it was that it was a lot like certain popular fashions, just adding extremely big and or crazy hair and extreme makeup. Also I loved that they looked like fried extreme barbie dolls. [Manba and Banba were the first gal styles I fell in love with]

Oh and I don't spend too much on skincare as far as big brands as well. But I am really anal about taking care of my skin, sunscreen, moisturizing, vitamin E oil at night. I've realized you don't have to shell out a ton of money to take care of your skin. Right now though I'm batting with some acne that randomly [I think it may have been stress and poor sleeping] started a few months ago, just when they all go away one or two more pop up. It's not that bad but considering I had always had pristine skin up until that point it's depressing. But I'm handling it well now I think.

Yeah you def have a young/cute look lol. I love your hair cut. Wish I had the balls to go with a short poofy cut again.

As for starting a new thread because this one's autosaging. hmm yeah that's what people usually do, just before we [you? me? lol] do we should pic more of a topic withing gal, like who's your favorite gal idol or gal style etc etc, and title it appropriately. That way it's less likely to receive flank. Also should link back to this one and it's archive or something. I don't know what the interest will be like. But it's worth a shot... I guess.
