I don't usually objectify the characters either. I can't get turned on by Ran even a little bit because of the whole parasite thing for example. Characters I do like such as Marisa or Satori I cherish and like looking at. I can't ever bring myself to fap to 'em.

If you just dislike coom art, fair enough, there is always an option to disable nsfw when browsing art sites. But please don't be like twitter trannies whining about muh objectification and sexualization.

Yeah, just got annoyed by this whole anti-coom-crusader crowd while browsing twitter for new art recently.

I was introduced to touhou from doujinshi and eroge before playing the games, so my perception is skewed. Despite that I understand that they are actual characters, it's a shame that some of them have so little characterization that the fandom has to pick up the slack and create it for them. Case in point: Ran, who is an accessory to Yukari at worst, and a background character at best. Her best moment was her debut in PCB and every other appearance was as the aforementioned accessory or in the picture spinoffs. Yukari just overshadows her, and unlike other servant characters like Sakuya and Youmu, she never could get out from under their shadows; then again, Yuyuko and Remilia aren't as strong character-wise compared to Yukari.
Still, I like fox mom, she is my favorite 2hu, and I'll enjoy her threads until they crash and burn.

It might just be the case that she doesn't have any character worth showing. She's little more than a drone for Yukari. Yukari has instilled within her/it some degree of autonomy simply to make her more versatile (Think of some shitty video game AI vs a full blown HAL 9000) but she's still 100% programmed and acting within defined parameters. Chen is just a pet for Yukari/Ran that was made probably just to prove that they could for lulz (Which is probably also why Yukari chose a nine-tailed fox of all creatures to be her main shikigami) since she doesn't work well as a shikigami.

I don't think she's that much of a drone. She can still cry, show emotion, and act on her own to avenge Chen for example. All of that is in PCB when you fight her. She's still capable of doing things against the wishes of her master and on her own will, which one would think she wouldn't if she was 100% programmed and with defined parameters.

Its obvious based on their nature. Both Ran and Chen are Shikigami, which are beings that inhabit animals/etc. in order to take orders from their master/summoner. Chen (the shikigami) can lose control if the animal is exposed to water while Ran has never been shown to lose control over its host. Shikigami move in very obviously robotic ways and can be "powered up" through the use of mathematics. Yukari literally refers to them as computers.
If someone isn't very creative they might use shikigami in very narrow, specific ways, such as to cut grass, with little function outside of these ephemeral orders. Yukari doesn't want to order her shikigami around 24/7 and needs them to be versatile, so she likely gave them general parameters, one of which was probably to act more natural and as the animals they're inhabiting would. This is why >>43896471 is the case. Their parameters might be something like:
