I use 1M GET on /a/ as a benchmark for shit versus non-shit. There was obviously a bit of a transitional period, but it's a milestone that falls in line with the /b/tard exile that infected all the other boards. It was a picture of Milhouse for crying out loud.

It's definitely cute to see posters speaking positively about 2007-era /a/ when the board was already drowning in stupid memes at that point. It's probably because they were the very /b/tards who ruined things in the first place. And now they make up the majority of /jp/'s userbase. All the misguided pompousness and none of the quality. If you got here a little while after the board was opened (and NOT directly from /a/), you are a better user than at least 90% of /jp/.

Ive been here since 07 and I don't consider myself an oldfag. When I came 4chan was already starting the process of becoming poop.

In 2007 it was far, far better than it was before though.

I would say people who have been around for over three years should spend less time on the internet. They should be in college, or working by now. 4chan was a childish escape, but now its just filled with children.

I do. It used to be the case that every other board was a shallow imitation of 4chan, with the same universal set of memes and a hell of a lot less activity, but a lot of those sites have matured well. I don't think /jp/ is even my primary board any more.

A lot of them still suck though. /bun/, 7chan, and 99chan are grade-A poop

I've been inhabiting one corner or another since '04, and it hasn't made me a better poster.
