I haven't been to Pixiv in a month though, I've been fearing how long I'll have to collect to "catch up" so I've been putting it off.

The first time a depressing online acquaintance asked me to tell him why he shouldn't kill himself, I think I was about 12. I didn't really understand what it was like to want to die, but I did know what it was like to be unhappy; to garner no fulfilment from activities you would normally enjoy and to feel desperate for a little escape. I replied that the only things that could always make me happy were little details. Interest in hobbies would wax and wane, personal achievements pale in comparison to the level you want to reach, but small things to enjoy can still be found. I recall specifically citing the example of the smell of fresh cut grass in the springtime; as people have started mowing their lawns again after the winter, but the dew is still chilly enough to numb one's bare feet in the morning.

He was probably just being dramatic, but I've always remembered what I said to him - even if it didn't do anything for him it has helped me greatly. If I am on the lookout for small happinesses, then there are bright points to my day. It's not really a reason to get up in the morning, but it makes a nice garnish.

I really don't understand why these guys are still on at 3am, they should be moved to the 11pm-midnight block on Comedy Central. Ringtones/Text Message sounds will kill any song or sample quite quickly sadly. Countless songs and samples have been ruined like that for me, it's sad. These days I make sure if I really really love something I don't set it as such or overwatch so it can cheer me up if i really need it too.

So I was walking back from the convenience store where I get smokes and I notice my neighbor's horses have gotten loose from their fence and are running down the street towards myself. I'm calling out to them, trying to get them to come over to me, then all of a sudden BAM, not 20 feet away, a car careens into the larger one and it goes down with a splatter. I'm just staring at it, and it gets up, and starts running, spilling it's intestines out and dragging them along the road in a long, bloody trail. By this point a bunch of cars are stopped on the side of the road looking on in horror. I start to giggle and have to stop myself from laughing maniacally because all these normals are around. I mean it was funny... so ironic really, one minute I'm thinking "Hey I need to help that horse" next thing it explodes in front of me. I keep walking down the street and finally walk by it, curled up on the side of the road, whineying mournfully, the life bleeding out of it.

In retrospect, I wish I would have just sat down right there and held it's head and petted it while it died.

But there were all these people crowding around, and I just wanted to get home and get away from them.

All in all it was a pretty good day.

Went jogging. It sure feels good to know you can go faster and for longer distances every day.

Amazingly this happened in Hesperia, California. It's a pretty highly populated area. It's just an old city and we have been zoned for horses forever so some people still keep them. I used to see that horse in the yard behind me all night long when I'd go out to have a cigarette.
