My uni just offered the opportunity for a fully funded trip to Japan for 21 days.

now, it sounds great and i really like the idea, however:
1. Im chinese and an Ausfag
2. I speak pretty much 0 Japanese
3. Anything i know about Japan is from porn, anime, and vidya.

would it be unwise for me to go? anyone have experience with a similar situation? i hear people who go in my kind of situation are sorely disappointed.

gogogogogogogogo! the less you know the better, you could get into fucking great fucking adventures like being accused for smuggling weaponry or some shiiiit!

inb4 ppl tell you to go to /trv/

yes it would be unwise of you to go. that does not mean you should turn it down. don't expect to much, and bring us souveneirs.

>> No.4926660

Sure, why not.
It's always fun to travel.

Uh, unless you have problems with social settings and/or agoraphobia.

What about claustrophobia?

>> No.4926671

>>4926666
I wouldn't know, sorry.
Do claustrophobics freak out over traveling in planes?

>> No.4926675

Why would you leave /b/ and come here to ask? Fuck off back there, faggot.

>> No.4926687

>>4926671
Some of them do. I don't have a problem with planes or buses, just with caves. I fucking hate caves.

What university is this and how did you get this opportunity?

Oh god. Just looking at a photo of one of those things gives me chills. It's even worse than an mri machine.

I almost wish something like that does happen, it'd make his trip a lot more memorable

Why aren't you packing already?

>> No.4926737

Just go. It'll be an interesting experience and whatnot. Just don't act like you belong there or have any previous ideas on what to expect, have an open mind.

Chemistry? Why are you going to japan for that?

>> No.4926753

>>4926737
its not for chemistry persay, its for students that meet the following criteria

1. Australian citizen
2. 2nd year or above
3. good academic standing

>>4926694
yeah, i was kinda afraid of that.

Koreans and Chinese both dislike Japan, and vice versa.
not many asian races i can pretend to be.

UNSW

also, its being offered by some Jap company, so yeah, guess they want to hire some Aus students because they're planning to expand to Australia

>> No.4926767

If you're just going around Japan they normally have a tour guide to well...guide you.

Now if they're dumping you in the middle of Tokyo and telling you to fend for yourself for 3 weeks, good fucking luck.

I'm a 3rd year student at USyd, where can I apply?

>> No.4926800

>>4926773
I think its a ventured deal between the company and UNSW.

http://www.mitsui.com.au/MitsuiEducationalFoundation.html

sorry, but USyd isnt on the list, shame, would be good to have a fellow anon on the trip, regardless of how wierd he may be.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF- I knew I should've gone to UNSW

Well, hope you enjoy your trip if you end up going.

There are a number of reasons to not have gone to UNSW.

Like what? It seems like a nice place when I visited it. Also you get free wireless internet. Usyd charges 1.5 cents/mb if you use over 6mbs a day.

>6mbs a day.
What, do they really ration you so tightly?

>> No.4926976

>>4926944
Yeah. Well, the university's sites aren't included in the 6mb, not that it makes much difference.
