Minori is being a retard of the first class.
1) They vandalized a public wiki page.
2) They got butthurt when other random people reverted their vandalism
3) The page they vandalized says the page infringes on their copyright, when it doesn't, it's just a status page
4) There are other things that may infringe on their copyright a lot more than a status page, but they didn't touch those
5) They didn't send a C&D. This is just silly harassment.
6) They used bad engrish nobody can understand in their threat.

Currently TLWiki just protected the page and blanked it until a further decission will be made.

The project isn't hosted on TLWiki anyway, so I think minori is barking up the wrong tree.

It must be noted that those were only raw scripts, as directly ripped from the game. The actual translation is done off-site.

As for future C&D's: There's not much you can do against a C&D. Legally speaking, they simply have the right to rape you if you don't stop the translation project...so the only possibility is to continue the translation in private and remove the public pages related to it.

On behalf of Moogy and the rest of the TLWiki administration, here I am to explain what happened as "someone with a cooler head on [his] shoulders." Moogy woke up to the drama, saw the article on novelnews (which is a great summary btw), took a look at the Recent Changes page, reverse-DNS'd the poster's IP address (218.219.158.186), and found out that the IP resolved to minori.ph.

That's when he finally says, "well shit."

But why say, "well shit"? We have a policy of respecting the original authors' requests both out of respect and courtesy: ironically, the TLWiki is part of the same domain as the prevalent lolipower and Amaterasu; bothering the generous dovac with the legal issues of a takedown notice is pure courtesy. Anyway.

This all assumes that the claim _did_ come from the minori offices. And before you speculate, server rooms are sometimes in the same facility as the officespace. IP spoofing, not so good. Virus that proxies through the server room from a raging nativist NEET's house, maybe. I know not many of you doubt the source, but I need to get you all on the same page.

Now about that demand - most of you know that the TLWiki hosted no actual content except for multiple Add-On Disc's script files. This is what most likely pertains to their takedown request, although they might be overestimating our involvement as much as judges misunderstand Bittorrent trackers. Although we do agree that posting a copyright claim on Talk Pages isn't exactly professional-looking, it nevertheless is valid.

And now for some news: the eden* project's email itself has recieved a more professional and official-looking takedown message. Please, PLEASE, do not email minori or send them hate mail. If you must, do it in fluent Japanese and not in English.

I will now, as with most of my tripfagged posts on /jp/, answer questions.

This follows wide public debate including about computer games produced in Japan such as RapeLay in which players simulate the rape and sexual abuse of women and girls. Equality Now launched a global campaign in May 2009 targeting corporations involved in the production and sale of such games, known as hentai, as well as the then ruling party of Japan. I'm not well-versed in legal stuff, but hypothetically speaking, say minori does take legal action against fan translators and takes this to court; they can argue that the fan translations of their games harms their potential for profits.

A legit foreign company wishing to buy the rights to minori's games would be less likely to if there's free fan translations floating out there.

Of course, seeing how xenophobic minori is, I doubt they'd sell the rights to their games to anyone. It'd be that, or they'd be charging exorbitant prices for them.

>> No.4958531

>>4958483

Maybe but how the fuck are you going to do with when most of the accused are located outside the court jurisdiction?

As much as the capitalist pigs would love to make copyright infringement and the like the same as genocide, law enforcement have better things to do that deal with this crap so nobody will give much of a shit being low priority and all.

Also its a tough sell to make, the judge could simply say "bad! dont do that" and the lawyer is going to shown then the bill as the poorfags are unlikely unable to pay so in the end they are footing the court bill so what is point? chances are they lose money in doing so.

That is why THIS IS STUPID! in fact someone could point out the large doujin market that exists that sure as hell does not go look for licensing when doing "Kasumi is raped by Futa Ayane" that would make a interesting snowball effect that would not want.

Minori just wants to avoid offending Western audiences with the "weird/offensive shit" (to most Westerners' eyes) that is found in VNs, especially eroge, all for the purpose of improving the perception of the VN industry outside of the US. There's nothing wrong with that. Sure, they don't know how to use the internet (lol blanking pages and replacing them with C&Ds), but this hatefest needs to stop.

Also, stop feeling "entitled" to your VN translations. The creators made them, and they have moral as well as legal rights to their own creations. They are perfectly well within their rights to sue anyone who acts unaccordingly.
