Hardly. I advertise my services. Having acquaintances that assist me with finding people that needs things translated also helps. However it's been rather slow lately and because of that I have more time for scanlation work.

Ok OPEE, Here is a real answer. Be come a college teacher, then apply to teach online courses . Almost no interaction with other people, but it is a lot of hard work getting there. Not really worth it either because the amount of work involved in teaching online courses far outweighs simply teaching in a class room.

Surprisingly low number of people can speak a second language decently in second-world countries, knowing English alone is almost good enough to make a living. Well no, to be honest this is what I actually believe so I just made it up on spot

>> No.5134251

>>5134240
Well if you speak german and english and one more language be it french, arabic, chinese or some random small country you should okay.

I saw an official document from the government once when I was working for them, addressed to some foreign company, recommending them to find a translator for the document. They estimated the cost around 18.5$/page for the English translation if I remember correctly

>> No.5134304

>>5134213
If you mean my regular work, I have no stable set rates. I usually charge by the amount of text and/or pages there are to do. There are rare occasions when people want their commission done fast and they pay extra if I'm fast with it.

When it comes to scanlation: 1.50 $ per page translated and edited. The rate goes down if there's not much translating and editing to do.

>> No.5134332

By existing. The government is kind enough to pay for my living.

I just hope I'll never get a job offer. If I decline, I'll lose my benefits and working would restrict my life too much.

I took German classes in elementary school as an extra activity beside English but the teacher was a douche so I quit. Or I was too stupid, I don't know but I still can't understand why would a washing machine be female. I MEAN, SERIOUSLY

>> No.5134443

>>5134352
It's actually rather logical.

Women use washing machines -> washing machines are female

I know, I know. There is a logic behind everything. Now I find learning languages enjoyable, well, at least English because I use it. It would be fun to use another one
