Anime gets subbed every week but in the case of VN we would have to wait months, if not years for translation.

Perhaps. Depends on how much it adds to the story. The VN will no doubt be far superior, but if it only follows the exact same story again, it would be kind of boring since I'd already know what's going to happen.

If someone usesd a previously used premise an d somehow makes it several times uller, I'd say it can't be considered above average.
Also there are more problems with it, being the more than horrible pacing and the characters, also the mix of comedy and drama.

Angel Beats was mediocre at best. A VN could expand on places that weren't even touched in the anime and it might make for a good read but after the atrocity that is the ending of the anime I doubt I'd even have the motivation to download the VN.

Angel Beats wasn't the best thing Maeda's ever written, but it was decent enough to keep my attention. Better than most other anime that has aired recently, that's for sure.

Great 3D animation. It is hilarious seeing 2 cats walking around sniping terrorists and playing CS. I mean even the way they run/walk is unique. 3D animation has come a long way.

When I watched Angel Beats? I treat it like a 20mins of time sink. Nothing interesting ever happen besides one episode of Kanade eating mapo tofu. It is the definition of mediocrity. Even the resolution is shit, let me send you off by granting your wish.

I dare say Angel Beats is the worst of Maeda's work. Even the music is crap besides 1 or 2 songs.

As long as Yui and/or Shiina had a route, and no forced play order forcing to you play Yurippe and/or Kanade routes first. Pretty much no one likes Yurippe, so I probably don't have to explain that, and I stopped caring about Kanade when she lost her mystery appeal after joining them.

As I said in my post, I was not defending Angel Beats in any way. I dropped it after a few episodes when it did not get any better.

I just find it rather amusing to see someone criticize AB while finding an empty, unoriginal cgi wankfest worth watching. I take you belong in the crowd of viewers that thinks Avatar is a masterpiece because 'it looks so pretty', and 'it's like a shooter game!'. CSO is not even an accomplishment in the level of 3d 'cinema'.

Oh. Avatar is a visual fest, it is definitely not a masterpiece. You can treat it as a mononoke hime/pocahontas with great visual.

Same with cat shit one, I don't think it is masterpiece but it is a fresh of breath air in the anime industry.
It is something different and clearly above average compare to AB.
