Actually yes, you CAN aim better. "Wait for a red circle and pray" shooting isn't how the game should work. Taking careful aim between shots is not only possible, but necessary.

As for the Destructor, or any bot with locking subweapons, the damage per second ratio of that is a fraction of what a card bot can produce, especially considering the time spent locking and firing and the range issue. Equally important is that the Cards have equal homing against both air and land, and that homing WAS (before the .jp changes) on par with best missile homing.

There's a reason there are only two or three Destro-hoppers compared to dozens upon dozens of card hoppers.

no, pay attention to how the auto aim works. if you shoot a weapon at nothing the bullets will follow a parabolic trajectory. if you have something locked on the trajectory will be changed to hit the target. even if you have the reticule in the correct spot you can still miss because rapidly changing direction will change the calculated trajectory to make your bullets go in the wrong direction.

The shots (minus a few weapons, notably The Auto Beam rifle and similar, lasers, and flamethrowers) follow the same curvature as the arena floor, and that curve has nothing to do with auto aim.

Your shots go where the reticle points. The "auto-aim" in the game is essentially non-existant. If you and your target are both moving, then you have to take into account both of your movement speeds and directions, because (baring the accuracy modifier on the weapon itself) your shots will go exactly where the reticule is pointed. If you don't lead your target MANUALLY you won't hit shit.

Your "rapid changing directions" notion is based on where the bullet goes as your character model goes through movement animations. Note that shots originate from the exact barrel of the weapon, not from some nebulous point in the middle of your field of view. If you change directions rapidly, your weapon will move in relation to your field of view, and then attempt to reposition itself in regards to where your reticule is. If you fire half-way through that animation the bullet goes in whatever direction the gun was pointed in during the animation.

that's all well and good, but the problem is the autoaim forces you into a shitty aim against a hopper if your weapon is fast enough to require only a small amount of leading. I can manually lead bazookas against Air just fine, where you have to lead so far that autoaim never comes into play. But something like ABRs against relatively slow-moving (compared to S Air) hoppers, the required lead is so small that it snaps you into autoaim whether you like it or not.

It's really funny because I have an easier time against hoppers with my Maril, where sound balls are a perfect counter with their homing + non-explosive damage (plus hoppers don't kill nearly as fast as ivis/ouka do), while with Seraph I just have to hunt down the ivis/oukas and ignore hoppers.

The big problem with short boost is that it's so easily acquired via a cartridge on numerous bots that everyone just ends up abusing it, while ivis and ouka will become ultra-rare in live.

Depends on what's available.

Broad radar can make you useful to your team as secondary support (especially in something like a Baltheon) to spot clusters of enemies and run down lone lands.

Sniper Sight and or Stealth can make you a deadly aerial predator in the right situations.

The boost carts are helpful (especially the on that increases your boost regen rate), but not particularly necessary.

I would advice going to the shop and buying either Acceleroll or Air Loop. Accelroll is great for covering large distances and ducking out of tight situations. Air loop is a good defensive maneuver for ducking fire without loosing your target lock, and it gives you extra vertical clearance to mantle up on ledges (you can make it to the highest Perch in Relic Towers from the ground, for example, in two boosts instead of three or four) as well as ditching pursuing units by ducking over walls and walkways.

Two Blast Bazookas make her a devastating Anti-air machine if you can lead them enough to land the hit.

The new Compact Launchers are a decent multi-purpose weapon, and it's nice to see Primary weapon missiles come to Small arts.

Assault or Raid Rifles (especially if you take the Stealth and Sniper carts) make her an excellent commando unit.

I've been tempted to make her into a pure sniper with a 2x Breaker Great Supply Core Breaker rifle, but I'll have to level a new one and tune for that.

As I said, Air units have to be led by such a large amount that autoaim never even factors in. I can shoot down airs all day with my blast bazooka and sound balls (especially L Airs, but seraphs too once I land my first hit and stun them) except that I'm always getting swarmed by ivis and ouka.

The problem is getting forced into autoaim against slowly moving targets like hoppers; I've never experienced this "slow" lockon you describe, I get snapped onto the autoaim point and I haven't seen how it's possible to resist the autoaim other than moving your reticle way off the target so you're shooting at nothing

Shortboost is *broken* aside from card (lol no effort autoaim) you can use mag/zooka/accelgun/rifle/breaker and be just as good as if you used lasers. Any idiot can get a shortboost+quickboost+quickland and jump around never getting hit.

The airdash and airloop are pretty powerfull as well, dash works like a get out of jail for free card and loop lets airs climb onto unreachable ledges. But it's at least so that you can't spam whem forever to stay in an semi-invincible state while shooting unlike smallboost.

The reason cardspamming is overpowered is that it basically has no flaws.

Lets look at the pros and cons:

pros: -bullet type weapon, works good against any type of robot
-weapon is homing and negates enemy mobility chips like air loop and accele roll
-short boost offers mobility

cons: beam weapons that can actually hit you and sometimes ivis

So you see why only another robot that has a weapon that deals bonus damage to LND and doesn't need to aim, which is lasers, really counters this. If you use something like a mag, a rifle or a bazooka you actually need to aim now and good luck hitting any competent air with this, contrary to what you think accele roll is better for dodging than short boost, its just the illusion you got because art weapons are better for hitting mobile targets like air than air is at hitting a hopping land. You can do reasonably well with this build but you will need lots of skill to hit anything and will still miss most of your shots, so untill you provide videos of doing as well with those I'm not buying it. Especially since with a bazooka you abandon your primary role which is killing arts who now have more firepower than you and a blast guard as well. Not to mention meele will fuck you up even more. It would be a decent speedy wanna-be art build but still far from imbalanced. Again, lands would be shit tier without short boost, at least without cards we will have some variety as some will use mags, some rifles, some bazookas, some flamers, all of these have pros and cons unlike cards which had one specific counter.

Weapons on CB still needs to align towards the enemies (so that projectile path collides with the target) before you can shoot and hit them. This applies for lasers as well. So aside from that the laser is an instant beam, it doesn't have that other real advantages. Using lasers vs fast moving targets usually results in the laser maybe "glancing" the target for 12 ish damage when a full hit would be at 30+ and you just used up what, 10 out of 600 laser ammo to deal those 12 ish points of damage. That's no better than missing 50% of your rifle/zooka/accel/mag shots. Cards bypass this (lol no effort) because the cards are fired, then stops in midair to align perfectly towards the target once. You can easily dodge one "volley" of cards over longer distance by moving in a different direction after they've aligned themselves, but the rate of fire is so fast there's no room to dodge consecutive volleys.

Zookas have no problems killing anything even if they have blast guard. Anyone who's played a Art or even S Air with mini zookas can confirm this. At the start of CB beta zombie/numbers/SYCO/whoever were all using smallboosting dual zooka bots.

If you played JP CB you'd mostly see zooka/mag/accelgun users amongst the non-cashwhoring playerbase. Perhaps you should like, play the game instead of spouting your theorycraft bullshit whine on the boards?

That's going to depend on what kind of weapons you're using. With Lily, it's likely you won't be using too many flashy weapons, so you'll probably want to use Sniper Sight to take advantage of her decent FLY stat. Fire off a couple of shots, reposition, repeat, stay alive forever. For Art units that do more than skirmish, Sniper Sight is good for deceiving opponents into thinking that you're not paying attention to them or that you're out of range. It's not good for attacking Ivises charging a Power Spot since everyone and their mothers will be targeting them, but it's great for situations similar to a duel, lulling would-be attackers into a sense of safety. So if you've got an unassuming Build Arms bot going on a commando mission with rifles, it's safe to say Sniper Sight would help you act first to bean an unwary/busy target when not much else would help you stay hidden.

Playing with Seraph with dual mini bazookas I have to say autoaim is a major problem when duelling other air bots. Firing on the go, if you're strafing the opposite direction from your opponent it's next to impossible for either side to hit the other with slow projectiles (fast projectiles always have an advantage of course in terms of hitting the opponent).

For some reason the autoaim means you need to lead AND aim correctly to even stand a chance of hitting.

Now, when shooting stationary targets while circle-strafing you actually need to aim slightly to the left or right of the opponent to hit them while locked on - you aim in the opposite direction of which you are strafing.

The only individual arty I ever have problems dealing with is destructor girls with blast bazookas due to the AoE, every other arty type really does NOT know how to aim, and I really think the autoaim compounds this.

0 Walk or Fly makes you move perilously slow. the difference in speed between 1 and 10 is minimal, but at 0 movement stat you'll be moving as slowly as a 10 Walk/Fly character caught in a Slow trap.

If your Tec or Str is 0 the speed of your Wonderbits decay is phenomenal. With 40 Tec and 1 Str my propeller bits will stay up for 20-30 seconds.... with 0 Str, they dont' even last 5. Most weapon bits will disappear after a single attack.

Zero Toughness... let's put it this way, I took my Trees'n'Bees Blaster bot with Zero toughness into a match one and got "turnaround hitstun" (the kind where your bot spins around backward from the force of the blow) from a 20 damage rifle shot.

Sturbanger can't quite do it (either standard or regular)... This monstrosity has 40 Tec too, so I don't know that I need to change it anyway. It works out to be surprisingly balanced... I have my cruise missiles for long range, and the Gun Arms rifle boosters for intermediate range. Anything that gets within 200 gets chewed up pretty quickly. It's a big slow turret of a thing, though, so it's melee-bait (even more so than most arts)... I wish I had a Winberyl buddy to follow me around and bind stuff.

Actually, funny story, it's only the legs. They drop from the Roly Poly looking mobs in the desert Arcantus zones and are called "Sand Worm Legs". Arty only really work in groups - a good spread out gunline of 3 or 4 are needed to obliterate anything that gets too close. If you can form a gunline and especially have a small art that can get behind any individual attacking unit fast, even Ivis will die fast and has the benefit of being able to take down any short-range air unit.

Of course this requires teamwork and layered defenses and actually PAYING ATTENTION to incoming units, which is so very rare.

The thing about Art when you're air, y'see, you're not a MOBILE threat. Any art will be almost certainly outpaced by air units. That means for all we care you're mobile turrets that WE engage on our own terms, and that means if you shoot us down it's our own damn issue for not flying well.

Taking a guess at gamer psychology, Ivis and the like get all the hate because THEY engage YOU, they thus dictate (most of) the terms of the engagement and thus are really aggravating since they're ganking you as opposed to us flying into your missiles.

Generally what you have in a commando is a Primary bot, and then two situational backups.

For example, my Primary bot is either my Winberyl, when I feel like support, or my Starduster when my team lacks.... teamyness.

Then I usually run whichever of my Arts I feel like playing that day and a second air unit. If the playing field is thick with lands, I'll use my air. If it's air heavy, I'll go with the art. If it's relatively balanced, I'll take out whichever I feel more like playing.

Some players opt for three of the same bot (three lands, or three airs, etc) because they prefer to always play the same way. And, of course, there are some players that play three of the exact same bot, but they're relatively uncommon.

Basically it comes down to setting the commando up to suit your playstyle.

Auto Beam Rifle is pretty ridiculous in damage sometimes, I have a seraph with similar stats to yours (20tec 40fly) and with 2 of them equipped and can get 3k+ damage in a game on some maps.

Stock Lily's Psy-slicer is crap, but the Majalis' is decent for harrying ground targets that stand still... which is basically none of them.

The biggest broad-spectrum balance issue in the Open Betas so far has been the phenomenal speeds that EVERY bot has been able to achieve because of the massive amount of tuneup materials and money the players have. Nobody fields a small or Large air with less than 30 fly, and most don't bother without 40... 40 WLK or 30 and Boost run is almost a prerequisite for non-hopping lands... not to mention fucked up builds like 40 Fly Destructors and Lilys.

It's like having to play the game on fastforward.

Well, what you're seeing is basically the "elite" on jpCB. People who have been playing for a long ass time and have ground out the UC and materials to tune their bots to perfection. It's just we got to that point in a week instead of a year because of the treespam events and no bastagant tickets required for boss runs.

True, but with that year's tuning would also come a commensurate year's PRACTICE...

We've got players dropping into the middle of this with no idea how to play their bots despite them being "elite tuned"... and, yeah, I'm counting myself in that for several things. The nuance of melee still eludes me, I spend most of my time swinging at air (though I admit that's mostly from playing two matches as melee, getting frustrated, and going back to my Winberyl)

That's what I did with my first Lnd bots as well. Really enjoyed playing L Art too, but OB2's meta has become too Lnd heavy to play with the ones I had in OB1 (too tuned for damage, not enough mobility). Given I didn't want to build new Arts from the ground up I chose to pick back up my Lnd bots. I still end up hitting air more often than I'd like, but I'm improving.

I think more people are tuning for dmg like TEC (40Tec being a prerequisite now for any air or art who wants to do damage). And who the makes 40fly air bots? That's overkill and sees much more diminishing returns than the other stats do.

Why do I keep getting teleported randomly when fighting Haku? Is it one of it's attacks? Sometimes I go through the entire fight without it happening.

I'm guessing you're soloing Haku? Haku will teleport 1-2 random team members in and out of the battle area to fight against him while the others wait outside. Players outside can do nothing but watch and wait for their turn. (Or find the crack in the shield you can shoot through. Wonder if Cyberstep will ever fix that)
