In the case of facebook it was created with the [express purpose] of being a website for normalfriends, and twitter was created for narcissist.

Formspring on the other hand serves a purpose; it just has a bad rep because people tend to misuse it (i.e., the people who use it to chat with friends).

I'll say one last thing. ZUN has a twitter account and it's useless to us, but imagine if he was on formspring. I for one would enjoy it.

tl;dr if used properly it can be a useful service.

Hi there!
You seem to have made a bit of a mistake in your post. Luckily, the users of 4chan are always willing to help you clear this problem right up! You appear to have used a tripcode when posting, but your identity has nothing at all to do with the conversation! Whoops! You should always remember to stop using your tripcode when the thread it was used for is gone, unless another one is started! Posting with a tripcode when it isn't necessary is poor form. You should always try to post anonymously, unless your identity is absolutely vital to the post that you're making!

"Anonymous" is the name assigned to a poster who does not enter text in to the [Name] field. Anonymous is not a single person, but rather, represents the collective whole of 4chan. He is a god amongst men. Anonymous invented the moon, assassinated former President David Palmer, and is also harder than the hardest metal known to man: diamond. His power level is rumored to be over nine thousand. He currently resides with his auntie and uncle in a town called Bel-Air (however, he is West Philadelphia born and raised). He does not forgive.

You appear to have paid attention to the name field instead of the post field! Whoops! It's the same as not eating some food at a high quality restaurant because the one who cooked it has some deformity. Anon isn't about slinging shit. Only newfags, the mentally impaired and underageb& are amused by the concept. So don't try to warp us into that role.

Far more often than not trips are used to shitpost, the trip part playing the role merely to let people know who shitposted/trolled them every time. They are almost always troll ID /calling cards, because trolls love getting all the attention they can even if it's hatred. Hence they tend to get leashed up by filters. Even if you don't change your behavior or attitudes at all going from trip to anon, people will very much assume that you are trying to start shit just by the act of posting as a trip due to so many years of trips being nothing but worthless shitposters.

So basically, don't blame us, blame all the faggots past and present who abuse trips to make us hate their entire kind.

>> No.6424443

It's not tripfriends themselves you should be mad at. You should be mad at reputations in general. Some of the worse users on 4chan shitposted Anonymously under the name of something that was propagated by the community as a whole. KoG, Sion, and other named shitposters got where they were from bitchy Anons such as yourself. You are to blame for their 'infamous' reputation. You are the one who fed them. You are the reason why they existed.

Old time /jp/ user here. I've been here since the board's creation, and yes, over the last couple of days, /jp/ has been different, I think we've seen another influx of new visitors from abroad. It happens every few months, but the board usually recovers to some degree, with the new people either adapting or leaving in disgust.

However, this summer brought some significant changes to /jp/ that the board hasn't been able to shake. It seems that there's a higher prevalence of normalfags posting here, unaware and ignorant of this boards customs.

It is demoralizing and unsettling, to say the least.

It would still be happening like all fuck if it weren't for such a thing as autodelete. Remember that one day Currybutt got unbanned and then banned again because he did nothing but flood the board with as much shit as he could?

People like that are mentally-impaired prima donnas who simply must be denied the opportunity to elevate the levels of their shitposting, for the sake of the quality of the board. Although, conversely, if trips were always allowed then it would be extremely easy to filter every annoying one, the thing is, not everyone uses filters + some (if not most) trips will samefag the fuck out of their threads as anon in order to keep them on the front page long enough for someone not using a filter to come in and say something. What kind of amazing autism it takes to conduct such attention-whoring behavior, I'm not sure of, all I can say is that it exists far more often than it should.

You know I'm right. Not a single good thing comes from Anonymous posting.

Nerds say that with anonymity "you can just judge people by the content of their posts" but that's total bull since Anons have no identity. And if you have no identity, then you can't have any credibility/trustworthiness. Anon posting just plain sucks butt.

Tripcodes are only meant to be used when you HAVE to be different from other anons so no one can impersonate you in the thread.

Once the thread dies you should go back being anon unless you are going to talk about THAT SPECIFIC thing about the other thread again. i.e: Translation teams / progress / etc

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!

98% of the best, most funny, most interesting threads on 4chan are from Anonymous. Don't be delusional.
An example of that right now on this very board? The guy doing almost all of the work on the Irisu Syndrome translation thread is Anonymous and we are having no problems with people trying to be him or things like that.

You are a fine example of how "awesome", "productive" and "good" a tripfag can be. You rarely make decent posts around here while the majority of your posts are utter shit, useless crap, retarded stuff. You are no different from the "anon shitposter" you speak of.

There are good tripfags? Of course there are, those don't post as often as a shitty tripfag such as yourself and actually do something that value their tripcode for identification's sake, like translating a doujin.

Just admit you want attention.

Both parties involved in this Anonymous v Tripfriend debate are wrong.

The pros of identity:
-People more often than not behave better when they're held responsible for their actions.
-It's easier to filter people who use trips.
-It's easier to keep track of good & bad users whose opinions may (or may not) be relevant to your interest.

The cons of identity:
-Many shitposters use identities to build up their reputations.
-Identities make it easier for people to hold grudges.
-Many topics get derailed 'inadvertently' when tripfriends make posts.

The pros of Anon:
-Anons are judged by their message and not by the color of their skin.
-On a true Anonymous imageboard negative reputations would not be formed (e.g., KoG, Taiga, Sion, Arc, etc).
-You can say what you really believe without worrying about political correctness.

The cons of Anon:
-Group think.
-When people are not held responsible for their behavior they tend to behave in ways they [normally] wouldn't IRL.

Having or not having a trip doesn't mean shit, it's just how much of a shitposter you are.
Also having a trip pretty much guarantees someone will hate you.
Either bandwagoning Anon legion newfriends or simply people who dislike you (Even if you are not a bad poster, you might disapprove of some cancerous shit like "Doubles threads xD" and all the shitposters will follow you and call you a faggot forever), or simply trolls. >Having a tripcode is lunatic mode posting.
I recognize this 'interpretation' and I'm forced to believe you are not holding your tripcode right now. And most tripcode users don't use their tripcodes when they are in doubt about the quality of their posts, you can be a good tripfag while being a shitposter as well, so this "lunatic" logic sounds more like countless 'lifes and bombs' to spend.

And thank god a janitor arrived.

>> No.6424592,2 [INTERNAL]

You guys are missing the biggest con of having an identity.

When you use a tripcode, you cannot post as yourself. Even if you make a tripcode to shitpost, you want to hold a reputation and so parts of what you present are false. You hold back certain parts of you whether you like it or not. You wear a mask just as everyone does in real life, whilst anonymous posters are able to remove that mask.

You probably don't know the true BOOF.

>> No.6424592,3 [INTERNAL]

>>6424592,2
That's actually the main reason why I stopped posting with a trip. I got tired of how superficial it was.

ZUN!bar, BOOF and even Hong Meiling wear such masks. (I don't blame them though.) It's human nature to care about what others think about you. The few guys who don't care what others think about them (e.g., Currybutt and Arc) are huge shitposters.
