Level, blur twice, duplicate layer and set it as overlay. Then, on the overlay layer, apply high pass at around 0.5-0.8. Merge, downscale using bicubic smoother. Basic cleaning.

To make the moiré less noticeable I used a filter called "topaz clean", with settings to just barely take care of that and nothing else. Bigger than those settings are a no-go for me, as I really don't like filtering.

Yeah I noticed that they do come out with more noise this way, but it's mostly subdued enough where it's easily captured with the wand tool and burned like you said. Overall I like how it looks, I'll probably use your method for a lot of series I work on now.

The reason I asked before though was because there was a LOT of noise, which I realized was because I was using my preset blur macro and not the default one.

First of all, I re-draw the missing parts.
As you can see in this picture, there's a white line in the middle.
Than, I resize the image.
After that, I reduce the noise using filters and other tools... it depends on the image I'm cleaning.
I usually use "Neat Image" if the image has too much noise.

Nabiki, I haven't been following these threads, but tell your cleaner to apply Topaz Denoise's "Super Smooth" filter with a "Supress Noise" at 2 or so.
It'll remove the tiny white and black freckles.

I've already read chapter two. It's rough, but he has a lot of things going for him that the others don't, including expanding the plot for a visual medium in order to get across things clearly for readers. Adding little things like Lambda smacking him in the face with a bucket because he can't take his eyes off of Beato is a great way to get across his own feelings for her to the reader without having to make him aware of them or ponder them at length.

There's more to a manga than the quality of art. There's also pacing, layout, and setting of the scene. I'd rather have EP5's unpolished artwork and appreciate the care he's putting into getting everything implied in the story on the page than the reverse.

Natsumi has lovely art, but she hamstringed a lot of the ongoing development between Battler and Beatrice because of her obsession with laffytaffy trollfaces and fishbowl shots. Considering that Chiru is an extended love letter to Beatrice in a lot of ways, I want a mangaka that has been shown to give thought into her portrayal. The EP5 mangaka is the only one shown to really do that so far.

At least in EP5 I can understand that Battler is in love with Beatrice. Looking at the other manga adaptions where she's in troll mode all the time or important small scenes for their relationship are cut, it's hard to imagine why Battler would fall for her in the first place.

Wait. Are we seeing the same chapters here? I think it's pretty suitable. Mostly a step down from E1 and E3's art, but can't say it's not suitable. The art is better when it comes to females than the males generally, though. The dark/sinister/creepy scenes are done quite nicely, and fitting. I do like the art for Bern and Lamb, especially when it comes to their creepy/sinister faces, like pg.19, 21-22 of ch.1 Erika's art is also nice too.

there's a fairly big difference between the way Battler acts towards Beato in Ep5 compared to the previous Episodes. Prior to Episode 3, there was no real hints at romance, just some feeling of friendly arguing (When Beato isn't trollin the shit out of Battler). Episode 3 is where most of that development took place but there was no real room for subtlety at the end because of obvious trolling. Battler keeps his distance from Beato in Ep4 because he's confused with how he feels (on one hand he fell for her in the previous game but she seemingly betrayed him so he's pretty apprehensive). Best indication is that Battler sort of laughs with her and Ronove about it at the beginning of 4 but there's that fleeting tense moment where he tells to never do it again. Ange further confuses him when she sacrifices herself and tells him that Beatrice is his enemy, but after Beatrice begs him to kill her, he knows that she was being honest at the end of Episode 3 and that there's something more to what Beatrice's actions.

Though it's clear that he understands Rokkenjima, Beatrice and the truth at the beginning of 5, he's fairly hesitant about the whole thing. Its like he knows how to go about solving everything, but he purposely procrastinates. Perhaps he knew that Beatrice would leave when he figured out the truth, that's probably why she left after he got impaled by the red truth: to kick his ass into gear

either way, I enjoyed Umineko's romance. A romance doesn't always have to be the focus, nor does it have to be blatantly spelled out for the audience. The best ones are often the subtlest and contain hints of tragedy, which is what Ep5 accomplished rather marvelously in my opinion

Shkanontrice had Shannon as the center, not Beatrice. Beatrice is a more important part to Yasu than Shannon is, as we see when the episode follows her entirely and eventually leaves Shannon at the wayside.

Regardless, I'm actually pretty impressed that if you take pretty much every fan theory (except Moon-chan, which was always fucking lame) you end up with the answer to Umineko. I think Shkanontricefags and Bombfags really deserve special kudos, and the shipperfags filled in an important hole too. All of them highlighted different parts of the story and missed other parts.

But no one is willing to give any of them partial credit because Umineko is about being RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT, not having fun or enjoying the story.

As a fellow shipperfag I'm gonna have to disagree. I think the manga in general fucked over Beatrice/Battler development, but out of the question arc artists Natsumi Kei by far did the best job with the relationship. In the EP3 manga you can actually see Beatrice and Battler having a bit of fun with their arguments, and she even kept small, cute scenes with the two of them, down to Battler trying to cheer Beatrice up by telling her to think of his victory as more of a tie and her telling him not to pity her.

You're pointing fingers at the wrong artist. If you want to look at a real fuck up, I'd like to direct you to the EP2 manga, which removed "call me Beato" AND the promise scene, and the EP4 manga, where Souichirou is too busy fapping to Ange to keep in scenes like "don't do it again."
