In my opinion, the most xenophobic Japanese people are the ones that have not traveled the world. Age only aggravates the matter. That is true for all countries, but bear in mind Japan is also an island nation and a pretty self-sufficient one culturally, so unless you are a Japanese person that has traveled a lot, you will indulge in stereotyping when dealing with gaijin. One more thing, if you are American and you are not white or black, they won't be as harsh on you with the stereotype thing for obvious reasons.

There is some xenophobia in Japan but what most people seem to observe as xenophobia isn't it. You'll get that in some local variation just about everywhere and anywhere.

I actually watched that one and the second one he made with a white guy's perspective and both are very interesting.

It's just common sense. Americans visiting Europe would get treated differently too as soon as they knew you were American, but they might not notice straight away until you start talking.

The same goes for Japan. A lot of "Japanese" you meet are actually Korean, and if you're asian they will often mistake you for being Japanese until you open you mouth.
