That wasn't mangagamer. That was me. I'm poor and all my fellow visual novel enthusiasts (5 of us) were as well so we each threw in around 7 dollars and transferred the game via external hard drives.

Koihime was a disappointment due to lack of voices that we will never legitimately get so instead of all of us buying we split the cost...they got one sale for 5 people...not exactly pirating either since we all paid partially.

Sure, it'll never get as big as a COLLODOOTY game or what not, but it can at least get big enough, say, 5-10k sales average per title, as opposed to the 1-2k on average now.

I think MG should just try and release a DRM free title sometime and see if it makes a diff to the sales numbers. Chances are, they're either going to stay the same or may actually go up.

because to producers, those few hours are very important. There's people who for various reasons (hype, whatever) don't want to wait to play something, so if there's not a pirated version at release day, they'll give in and buy.
I doubt they really think they're preventing piracy, it's just a way of buying time to get a few more sales.

You should realize by now that pirated copy of the game will always be late. Sometimes even weeks.
Good example of this are the Initial D porn games that took weeks to come out.

And if you want an example of DRM-free done right and with profits, look at gog.com. They are pirated like any other games, but GoG knows that if they DRM'd them, it wouldn't make a difference. The same with Stardock's games, and they made a profit of more than a million dollars on the last Galactic Civilizations.

The plot isn't exactly great, but it's not bad either. The porn is fantastic so far.

My main complaint is the shitty translation job. I would have been better off playing it in Japanese.

But let me educate you a bit, and others as well perhaps.
What is a good keyword for starters? URLs can do wonders more often than not, because they usually hit right on the spot, or not at all, given how they aren't thrown both left and right, such as words are.

But even if not, you have the game's title, you have the medium (Visual novel/VN), you know some classifications such as it being an "Eroge" (that one would have been a winner in this case), etc etc.
But in this case, simply the URL alone would have worked.
Try to keep up, no offense. And those links were going to be removed anyway, so I personally don't really care, I believe it was mostly the other guy who wanted to hide it.

Mangagamer is well aware of erogedownload.com site. They sent mail to my domain registar asking to take site down, which got forwarded to me. I have no idea how my provider replied to them, but i got message among lines "thats the piracy report we got regarding your domain. while we advise contacting that guy and resolving this matter, you can do whatever you want." There's no point in hiding that site, since they are lurking it already, and reporting links constantly. every 1-3 days i have to post new download links, but i have separate VPS server for storing prepared archives and with 100MBit upload speed it takes just a few minutes to post new links.
Once i'm done reuploading rest of files to fileserve i'll work on curl script that will check download links and if it finds something removed it'll reupload it and post new ones, but this might take some time, since i just started learning pvp this semester.
