It was a battle of one hit glass cannons, and Shiki survived Fujino's hit at the cost of an arm instead.
Afterwards she was able to negate Fujino's "hits" entirely.

Actually, he got the basics of the basics from his Dad. He didn't get advanced training, but from what we can see from KT, his subconscious remembers his dad being able to pull off Kyokushi Nanaya. Because if that wasn't his dad his subconscious was remembering and was actually himself, Nanaya basic training must have been one hell of a ride.

No, he didn't get any training. It's told somewhere in the PlusDisk or Kagetsu Tohya I think. There was even some reason, but it's been 4 years since I last read it so...

The reason he can sometimes pull of those things is because of his Nanaya blood. Through selective inbreeding etc they made kids who were already born non-human killers.

>> No.7619803

>>7619760
>Nanaya blood
No. Nanaya blood isn't some kind of magic drug. Shiki becoming Nanaya is just his instincts taking over. His body already knows how to do all those things. It's only the brainwashing and human common sense that's stopping him from pulling off all those crazy stunts. It's an impulse, like a survival instinct when a Nanaya is in danger. He was given the basics of Nanaya training to protect himself. His father just never trained him in the advanced arts because his dad wanted him to be relatively free from being a Demon Hunter.

The thing passed through inbreeding was mostly the Jougan, but parts of their physically best was also passed down.

>And no, he didn't get any training. Not even basic ones. That's canon dude.

Except you're wrong. Shiki was taught the basic skills needed to defend himself. He just wasn't taught the most advanced arts, though apparently he watched his father do some of them. He at least witnessed Kiri Nanaya perform the instant death attack the nightmare he created in his mind use, as he remarks that his father performed the same dance of death in the moonlight. Anything the nightmare does is probably of similar quality to what he was either taught or witnessed, and he matches the nightmare exceptionally well before the nightmare pulls that trick out of its hat. He also was trained to use a bladed weapon of similar type to the knife he inherits which bears the Nanaya family name.

His body is unusually suited to using specific motions, just like the rest of the Nanaya clan that had the aptitude for it, so doing some of the things he does is natural for him, as is his physical strength and his general agility. An interesting note that Kouma makes is that Nanaya Shiki has superior talent to his father, but inferior skill and precision.

>Nanaya blood = instincts though the bloodline
Instincts are passed down through blood. There are reasons why humans have "primal instincts" that people normally say humans have when they are put in situations of great harm or danger.

Nanaya instincts are just that. Nanaya blood isn't some kind of magic wonder drug. It's just the ones who successfully don't come out as fucked up in the inbreeding process manage to pass down these traits to their descendants.

And no, Shiki did have the most basic of training from Kiri. But that's all he got.

Why was movie 5 of Kara no Kyokai so much better than all the other movies? Why did nasu suddenly get so deep and such? Was it just the movies and the books are all much better? Are the movies even considered a good approbation? Are the books translated?

adaptation*

>> No.7621206

>>7621140
Some of the lengthier conversations were drastically shortened or outright cut out in the movies, leaving much more up to the audience's interpretation.

For example, in the first chapter, there's a conversation between Kokutou and Touko about the significance of "a view from above." It's a major part of understanding Fujou's character, but it was removed from the adaptation.

As for my personal opinion of the movies, I think they're fantastic. The director did a great job with the atmosphere, and took a lot of liberties with the script (which is a good thing).

When the adaptation of the first movie was just starting, Nasu was embarrassed of his older work, and personally wrote up a new script for the first movie. However, he liked ufotable's script even more than his own.

Oh, too bad i would of like it if they explained more lore and details like in the books then, but are the books even translated yet? Still though, man it went from, good to alright, then the 5th movie was a master piece, then... it went to "wtf am i watching" in the 6th movie, i mean it went from deep and different to lolwaifusavestheday! and a villain who was barely in it or detailed at all, he was just a typical villain that had no point. Why did nasu do this.. or why didn't he saved the 5th movie for last?

It's a lot easier to understand everything if you read the novels.

There's a fan translation that goes up to halfway through the fifth chapter, but the quality is iffy. There was pretty nice translation of the first chapter that was published in the English version of Faust (which, unfortunately, got canceled after the second volume).

Del Rey (I believe) has the rights to the novels, but they haven't done anything with them so far. I think they planned to release the first volume in 2009 or something, but that fell through.

>> No.7621829

>>7621283
Del Rey is dead.
The rights lay with Kodansha International now, and it doesn't look like they'll be doing anything with them anytime soon.
