Manually managing memory makes me feel like I am a good maid-programmer that doesn't want to use unnecessary memory on eir masters' computers. I feel dirty and disrespectful when using GC, and a good maid should always be proper and honest.
That's why I dislike GC.

5 people made almost 8 million posts in 3 years?

Those people would have to make 1443 posts per day, every single day, since the day /jp/ was made. There's 1440 minutes in a day, so those people would have to make roughly 1 post a minute, without EVER stopping to sleep or eat or fap or whatever for the past 3 years.

Assuming the average user makes 10 posts a day (averaged for some very talkative days but mostly quiet lurking) that'd mean that there's about 1440 users. Of course, it's impossible to get an average posts-per-user count, much less account for the many many lurkers who post only once a few weeks/months/years. So I'd peg the number at probably >2000 constant users actually. One other thing is, if you account the people who normally are on /a/, /v/, /tg/, /g/ etc who come sometimes post here once in a blue moon, unique IP address accessions of /jp/ are probably in the tens of thousands, maybe more.

Obviously I don't really give a shit about OP but still it's neat to think about this stuff once in a while. Of course only moot (maybe some close mods) really know these things though.
