There's been some drama at Dolphin over the audio decoder.

HLE is much faster, you can run games at pretty much perfect speed, but their audio is completely fucked up. LLE meanwhile is slower so you get lower FPS but it's much better on providing audio.

Basically LLE is what you should be using for new games.

>> No.7997367

>>7996680
It's perfectly understandable that they'd rather get HLE working correctly than rely on LLE, since LLE requires copyrighted DSP firmware. In the meantime, ToD runs so well that the performance hit from LLE isn't such a big deal.

Note that if you have extra processor cores, you can get a small speed boost by selecting "DSP LLE on Thread." I have a 4-core processor, and just standing around in my house with the frame limit disabled, I was seeing 55-56 FPS with HLE, 46 FPS with LLE, and 50 FPS with LLE on thread.

I also encountered this problem, if not worse
I played through spring 15 (with both savestate and normal save) then stopped playing for a while.

When I wanted to continue playing, both saves revert back to spring 4th. That was from my earlier save.

Does this mean the game is not playable right now? Or did I get a bad .iso?

Also anyone knows why my game frequently crashes while playing? I had to resort to savestates to prevent loosing too much.

It usually happens in places that are noisy (dialogues, battles, item scrolling). I'm guessing it's a sound problem.

I don't know if this is what your problem is, but savestates are not interchangeable between DSP HLE and LLE. The solution is to load them using HLE, save the game normally, then switch to LLE. You should then be able to save and load states normally.

Although by the silhouette I assume there's some girl who'll appear later and maybe have some absurd condition (like the witch in RF1 or 2, I can't remember).

Mikoto though, what the fuck is up with s/he.

Those are the last two, yes.

I'm not that far yet, but I think it's supposed to be a spoiler that Mikoto is a girl. At first I thought it was a typo when Sonja referred to her as a "he." Most ineffective reverse trap ever.

>>8006652
Yeah I thought so too, but s/he has a proper flat chest so I'm not sure.

S/he's voiced by a female voice actor though (not that it means much, a lot of males are these days).

I think RF3's wife roster is better though.

to be honest, while the RF3 cast is quite quirky and likeable, I never felt anything special for any of them. Choosing a wench to woo felt really empty.

That's because they are pretty empty. Romance is not the focus of the games, it is a side thing. They don't exactly put that much into it or the characters.

1. Mikoto disguises herself as a guy at the beginning. She's with the girls in Azel's OP though, so I dunno. They kinda half-baked hiding her identity as a girl. I didn't even realize that she was trying to hide herself as a guy until Aden referred to her as a "he".

2. I have no idea why they silhouetted loli Ultimecia. I thought that maybe she was going to be introduced as a villain or show up really late in the game, but she's introduced right after the first dungeon and might as well be a Disgaea character. I guess that they just did it to keep the mystery up or something. "Hey, guys, there's one more!"

No. The requests are present in Tides. They're just not used anywhere near as well as they were in 3.

Most of the quirky skits are done elsewhere. (the new skits that you get when you level up a character's FP, miscellaneous story skits, etc.)

They did take requests out with Frontier, though.

>> No.8008329

>>8008316
You can finish it, but you'll get the bad end if you don't keep a good amount of crops in your farm at all times. I believe you can afford to skip farming for 10 days if you still want to get the best end, but after that you're fucked if you let more than 1/3 of your farm be empty. (It is checked when you sleep, so it's ok as long as you plant things before night time.)

>realistic

1. That word has no place in this discussion. It also makes no sense in this context. Story-wise, there's nothing rushing Aden and Sonja along. The villagers seem happy enough to let them stay in the house until they get their problems worked out.

2. Having something that appears to be an extra affect whether you get the good or bad ending is poor game design. How would you even guess that without someone telling you?

3. RF is a relaxin' game. The last thing that it needs is something to force you along.

I un-rocked the second island you get from the quest from the dark elf maid, and every time I try leaving the island Sonia asks me if I'm not going to use my magic or whatever but I don't know what she is talking about. I know I need to capture monsters to do the work for me. Oh well, I doubt I'll ever get around to the end anyway, I never usually do in HM/RF games.

Oh bull. People pull the "realism doesn't matter in video games" thing all the time, and it's absolute bullshit. Realism IS a desirable quality. Now, that's not to say that it should compromise other factors, or that it's necessarily a bad thing to intentionally forsake it for stylistic purposes, but all other things being equal a realistic game is superior to a non-realistic game. (Unless it is intentionally avoiding this for stylistic or gameplay reasons as previously mentioned.)

1. Find an island to farm on; unlock it by dropping spirits while on it

2. Capture a monster using the brush

3. Buy some monster cookies from the general store

4. Go to your monster barn (its inside Ymir)

5. Using the book, move your monster to the island

6. Using your spirit wand to plants saplings; come back the next day (maybe a few days after at first; I don't remember)

7. Brush your monsters daily to raise their friend points and get better crops

8. In order to gain access to more of your fields, continue releasing spirits

You should grow crops. Its the best money maker in this game. Also, the winter island is the only reliable way to farm for ore.

Read the second half of point #1.

Aden and Sonja aren't really bothering the rest of village by leeching or anything, so there's nothing suggesting that they need to hurry. The word "realism" has no relevance to the subject at hand.

Its also highly unlikely that the player is just standing around the village all day. He's fulfilling requests, exploring the ocean and selling what he finds, etc.

You must be trolling.

Aden wouldn't be just staring at the ceiling and jacking off. He'd be running requests for the villagers, selling and buying things at the store, fishing, getting his house expanded, bringing back materials, etc. How much he farmed (not something that anyone ever asked or expected him to do, BTW) before he cleared those dungeons that he randomly and conveniently ran across shouldn't have much bearing on anything.

That's not realism, that's randomness.

Yes, and these activities are an analogy for the escapist lifestyle of the aforementioned NEET. True, Aden might manage to make something of himself eventually, but he will never reach the true glory of the person who went out there and did what he had to from day 1. That's the message that this game is trying to give, and I think it does so rather well.

>> No.8008841

Going OOT to full blown trolling? Not nice.
