Just started Ever17 im like 15 min into it and the lack of use of the first person is killing it for me.

Will it change later after the intro because seeing thing as the main character is kind of a deal breaker for me and part of why I liked KS.

Going through first stage...I noticed some wierd bizarre look in the stage. It was slightly dimmer than the original. And I know my computer's lighting or screen had nothing to do with it...it was just...dim. I also noticed stage 1's theme was playing a tad bit slower yet also at a higher pitch and the enemies were moving much slower and the danmaku...was literally nearly motionless.

I assumed at first this was a glitch with the game speed like some people had...but...it still said 60 fps. I wasn't scared though. I just laughed it off.

But something happened after. Nazrin showed up on screen. Now, at this point I thought she showed up too early. Normally she appeared a bit more into the middle of the stage...but she literally appeared after I got my first Red UFO combo...There was no dialogue either. And there was no boss-health-bar too. She just stayed on top of the screen firing her danmaku, even until I realized I was reaching the end of the stage before the sequence where the boss normally began. I also took note that Nazrin's danmaku fired at a morbidly slow yet eerie rate yet her sprite movements were faster even than Byakuren's in one of her last spell cards.

Saying phrases like, "....youkai..." or "I'm alone." or "HOPELESS."......after what seemed like 20 minutes of wandering the stage with this eerie arrangement of Cosmic Mind. The screen of the stage went pitch black for a few seconds.

Master trailed off as she noticed the black and white doll on the shelf. It was a perfect likeness of Marisa-san, and making it was a real labor of love. Coffeeshopbro here again. So this is KSG's temporary home, eh? I always liked /jp/ but I can't wait until the new board is made. Second date went well. We were sitting there for a few minutes, but then it got crowded as fuck. I invited her to walk to the park with me. She accepted. It was freezing cold out, but she didn't seem to care. Not that we weren't dressed for it, anyway. So we get there and recline on a park bench. I pull out a poetry book that I've been enjoying lately. It has all the classic authors: Donne, Hopkins, Keats, Housman, Tennyson. I ask her if she likes poetry. She says she prefers prose, but she likes some poems. I've always been told my voice is radio-quality, so I decide to read her some of my favourite poems. I get really into it. I analyse and compare them. I almost forget I've been rambling. I look at her. She seems enthralled. No one has taken such an interest in my hobbies before. I get a little embarrassed. She asks me to read her another. I read Hopkins'"Pied Beauty". It's beginning to get colder. Her cheeks are flushed, and she appears to be shivering, but she maintains interest. I'm getting really cold too. My voice begins to quiver a little as I start to shiver. She asks me if I'm cold. I say yes. She says she is too. I jokingly say "Well here's something to warm you up." I close my book, and begin to recite Neruda's "Sonnet XVII" from memory. It's a beautiful love poem. I finish it, and smile at her warmly. She looks embarrassed now. There is an awkward silence growing between us. Suddenly, she leans forward and hugs me. I'm taken by surprise at first, but then I reciprocate. I forget about the cold. Unsure of whether I was losing my mind, or that i've already lost it, I meanwhile formed a conjecture that I had actually found a portal to another dimension. The origin of the compulsions which led me to enter this brothel mystified me, but nonetheless I find myself here. The reasons are irrelevant.

A woman who I assume to be the Madam of the place directed me to enter a waiting room. The forcefulness with which her red-glossed talon pointed at the door gave me a shocking compulsion jolting my legs to move. Before I knew it, I found myself in this tiny cubicle. Theres hardly any space, I can't even sit down. 555...

My mind swarmed with questions, such as what compulsion led me to enter this dingy, horse-breath cubicle. Before I knew it, there was one other man standing beside me. I subterfugously slide my eyes to the side, drawing in the detail of this man from the edge of my vision.

Shinji is a whiner and a wimp, yes. But he tries, even when the odds are completely and utterly against him. He kills Shamshel with a knife whilst *impaled* on it. He jumps into a volcano to save Asuka. He attacks Zeruel unarmed with a damaged EVA-01 even after it has torn EVAs 00 and 02 to hell.

His battles are far harder than those of Amuro or Kamille - he has to fight an enemy he knows absolutely nothing about, that will appeare differently every time. Most of the weapons he's given to fight with are completely useless. His robot is a cumbersome beast, with no built-in weapons, and a very limited power supply. The only two people who can sympathize with him - one's practically mute, the other is borderline psychotic. And almost everybody else he works with is a headcase as well. He is mindraped, injured, and forced to witness and do things no teenage boy should have to do. And yet, up until the end, he tries his hardest to do what he has to do, fighting until he finally does it - he finishes off the Angels, at the cost of his last remaining friend. And his resolve.

Shinji Ikari is a tragic hero. What /jp/ seems to forget is that he prevails - if NGE were a normal show, he would've won, albeit in a very pyrrhic way. He beat the invaders. But Anno throws us quite possibly the most unfair twist of circumstances since Kamille's mindrape: after Shinji is spent and broken, when by all rights his nightmare should've been over, he is told to go back into battle again. And our hero gives up. He refuses to fight. Why? Because he's reached breaking point, he's done and seen too much. Shinji isn't a soldier, or some superman like Koji Kabuto. He's an ordinary, introverted kid who accomplishes some incredible things with the odds stacked against him. And again, technically, he pulls himself together again and saves humanity one last time from his own mistake. And that's what Shinji is. He's a person- a flawed, realistic person, who makes mistakes and regrets things and isn't perfect. And, even though he reaches his limit and even though he gives up, that's why I still consider him one of /jp/'s true heroes; the very definition of an underdog.

Still, this isn't *that* abstract, since it's still dealing with real things in the real world. Many believe that in this world, there are those things that are true, and those that obviously aren't. Even in World War II, American soldiers targeted the men with the katanas first because their killing power was feared and respected.

So what am I saying? Katanas are simply the best sword that the world has ever seen, and thus, require better stats in the d20 system. Here is the stat block I propose for Katanas:

Alfred can plow the land at a rate of 20 minutes per acre. Roland takes 40 minutes to plow, but sows seeds at three times the speed Alfred does.

If sowing seeds on the 10-acre plot pays $100, how much of that money should go to Roland?

This is something that I just posted on /a/. They told me to repost it here, and I thought it was worth a shot.

I live in Japan, and it fucking sucks. I made a thread about this a lonnnng time ago, but this bears repeating.

1. Anime and manga are more expensive in Japan. The prices are ridiculous, and it's hard for me to justify buying anime even though I feel it's important for fans to make an effort to support the industry.

2. If you are a girl, you will be groped and treated like shit. I have had men grab my ass in public *7* different times in the past year and a half. My Japanese friends say that women should just grit their teeth and bear it, since if you try to do something about it you will be publicly shamed. I also feel dirty and pathetic when these incidents occur.

3. Office culture in Japan is...intense. You are expected to show up at social gatherings even if you do not want to. And at these social gatherings people have the EXACT SAME CONVERSATIONS AGAIN AND AGAIN. I've had like 50 conversations on the power of beer to refresh you after a day's work. You have to say "good morning" every day in a very specific way, and if you don't then someone will approach you and tell you that's not how things are done at company XYZ.

4. The people treat gaijin like shit. Even the ones who try to be nice come across as condescending and rude by American standards. There are also a large number of Japanese men who think gaijin women are sluts and that they can get you to open your legs at the drop of a hat. Fuckers.

I wish all the Japanohiles could actually visit GLORIOUS NIPPON. They'd change their tune.

Let me share an experience with all from one of my many quests

Its lunch, I went to my favourite sandwich shop, got a delicious veal sandwich and was on my way back home.
There was this thuggish "Nigga" style black dude, he was behind me, I stopped, because he was walking quite fast, and I didn't want to be in his way.

He comes up to me, and asked, “Do you have any money?”, I knew where he was going with this, so I said, “Yeah, but you’re not getting any of it.”, and I walked away.
I suppose it’s in his blood, he was going to punch the back of my head but I quickly grabbed and threw him over my shoulder, he fell down and became unconscious.
I checked if he had any drugs/money, found cocaine in his jacket and called the cops.
I guess it wasn’t really a fight since it lasted less than 10 seconds, it really shows how effective Aikido is in real life situations.
It feels good to help the police catch drug dealers/druggies.
