Except that she isn't a god that is believed in because she provides, she's a god of convince, she just collects things like curses, ill wishes, and other nasty things because life would be better without them. Depends on the deity. As I understand it, Suwako is a curse goddess, which I suppose means that she takes whatever malevolence the land has and allows humans to live their pitiful little lives but makes no effort to make herself known or be worshipped, meanwhile Kanako is a fertility goddess that brings rains, but needs faith for her survival. Hina is a minor deity that also removes curses, but I am not sure if she seeks out worship or if she exists for the sole purpose of helping humanity.

Let's think about this from Hina's perspective. She is a goddess, not just any youkai or human, which means she was born with an express purpose: To remove curses and misfortune from humans. (and other beings?)

Now, if I were in her place, I'd actually probably be pretty bitter about the whole thing. Since curses are usually placed by humans to other humans, your life would basically to be to clean up after humans' stupid mistakes generation after generation, like a mother with perpetually misbehaving children that don't grow up. I would do it grudgingly, only out of obligation and to get enough faith not to disappear. So what if she just refused to do more than the bare minimum and just started deliberately cursing people for being fags? I like the idea.
