Why haven't you learned Japanese yet /jp/?

I did, almost 10 years ago.

I've moved onto general Arabic now.

Why would anyone bother with the east asian languages?
They are all barbaric and illogical, forming a basis of literature on something that cannot be verbally communicated and requiring separate systems for that (pinyin, kana, those korean things).

With anything other than latin and greek derivatives you are just wasting your time.

I personally learned it for eroge and アイドル番組. Welcome to /jp/.

I wonder. The more i'm learning it the more i'm thinking it's easier than my own language, and english.

does anyone know where I can find Genki 1 and 2? All I can find are dead links

you enjoy using a language that associates communication with a non communication based part of the brain?
as well as one that doesn't include spaces?
enjoy trying to read 1000 words a minute with them gook squiggles, pleb

I want to but I keep putting it off.

Can anyone give me a rough idea how long it takes to become fluent?

Already know it. In fact I am working right now to find excellent teaching resources for the NYPD.

Are those for the updated second edition that came out in 2011?

>> No.9035986

I grew up with it but I never cared enough to learn how to read much kanji. Now I'm 20 and my brain is slowly shutting down so I'll probably never learn.

I, like many here, learned Japanese solely for eroge too.

But that's not all it is right now. I'm trying to get into Asian Languages uni section of Social Sciences so I can combine fun and work in the future (possibly work as a translator/interpreter etc.).

Though it's too bad that the enterance exams only consist of general history and Finnish language tests, so I can't really use my current JLPT 3/2 level knowledge in my favor.

What's the point? If you can you only use it in your thoughts than you should have spent the time creating a new code for you to write in so no one can understand.

I'm working on it, but I forget things too fast. I'm not smart at all. I just want to translate loli doujin, eroge, and games for /jp/, as well as shitpost properly on 2ch, but I'll never be good enough.

Yes, I try to learn 15 new kanji and review 75 at random, but I keep forgetting them when I review them. Especially the readings. It's been 6 months and I've yet to be able to read even the most basic adult things. It will just take more time I suppose.... I'll be translating porn someday.

Too lazy.
It makes me depressed, so much wasted potential.
In the 3 years I've been doing nothing, I could have learnt a bunch of languages.
Lazy though.

I disagree. I enjoy learning japanese and find it interesting and fun. Even though the only use would be the standard things like literature, travel, etc. plus eroge and anime, I still like the language.
