Creativity is extremely overrated.

Nobody thinks his work is creative. It's a typical shmup with typical characters based on typical mythological archetypes. It's riddled with cliches and you could even say it's generic.

But it's also very cute and very fun.

The fanbase is easily more creative than he is.
Without the fanbase and all their creations, Touhou would seem a lot more shallow.

I do think he's a pretty good character design, not just because of their frilly dresses but all the shit they reference in their bios and in the spellcard names are pretty damned cool.

Maybe he's a good designer exactly because of how simple and shallow his work is.

It's a pain when you're a peon like me who knows nothing about classical music but occasionally listens to it as background noise, because you always pick up little tunes and think OMG ITS "BELOVED TOMBOYISH DAUGHTER" then start humming along to it before it diverges into something else.
Also kind of shameful because it shows just how uncultured I am.

On the whole, "we're out of melodies" front, I mentioned yesterday that I found parts of these two songs really similar, but the only person who responded said that the other song was a generic ballad tune. I'm just curious if anyone else is as crazy as me.
