if you didn't even have the motivation to check up the archive and not be spoonfed shit I seriously doubt you're going to keep that up. Starting is not the hard part, keeping up is.
Well good luck I guess

why bother checking archives when we can have a nice discussion here? I do remember these boards being about discussion

If I had any motivation besides eroge and anime I'd probably do it.

I thought about joining a buddhist church, then my interest in Japan wouldn't seem so weird?

yeah im only learning it for those things and a few video games, seems worth it to me

it wouldn't be of any consequence what your interests are, unless you try to talk about touhou or something.

i would recommend at least talking to buddhist instructors they tend to be a positive influence on your life.

When I first started, I looked around JewTube like a dumb ass, but I actually found a set of courses made by this guy who actually lives in Nippon as an English teacher.

He gets belligerently drunk in each video, and he made the entry into moonspeak pretty fun and not so boring. Though, I wouldn't trust most of his videos, because he does make mistakes (probably because he's drunk beyond personal comprehension).

Link is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZEA54VJEdE&feature=BFa&list=PL9987A659670D60E0

He covers hiragana, katakana, and a bit of kanji. Good luck.

Yes, Nama-sensei is probably your best bet on JewTube if you want to introduce yourself to moonspeak the easy way. Highly recommended.
