Man, I wish Touhou 13.5 would be an RPG. ZUN could write the dialogue and the story.

MoF is a pretty good game, but I started with Imperishable Night and I liked it a lot. The fight with Kanako lasts like 10-15 min, its pretty damn hard.

I can clear Lunatic difficulty in the games but I very much enjoy fanworks too. I can't say if I prefer to spend more time with one or the other, it just depends on if I feel like gaming or not.

Not him, but I'm about ready to start beating some of the games on Lunatic (currently working on a Hard 1cc of UFO, which is the only game I don't already have a Hard 1cc on). I started off with EoSD and never seriously tried Easy Mode at all, going straight for Normal. Five and a half months after getting it, I got my first 1cc.

Within around the next two months, I had 1cc of all the integer Windows games (skipping PoFV since I don't care for it) on Normal, some of them on Hard, and I had cleared all the Extra Stages.

It just takes practice and time. And fuckloads of patience.

If you don't have the dedication to play then your want to be a better player isn't strong enough. The most important part is to have fun. If you continue challenging yourself with increasingly difficult tasks, be it Easy, Hard or Ultra, you'll eventually get better before you notice it. Don't try to force your way through something far out of your league, like I did. I can't count the bitchfits I had and calling it a difficulty wall would be an understatement.

Unless it was someone with a good amount of experience playing other shooting games, it would probably not happen at all. It takes most people over a month to get a 1cc on Normal. Playing too long at a time makes you get frustrated, making you play worse, and yeah. The person playing would probably pass out before 1cc'ing Lunatic.

I enjoy the games more than fan creations. I started with EoSD normal beginning of this year. I have cleared Lunatic on several games and perfected 4 Extras.
Goes to show how far practice takes you. Even someone like me, who had no experience whatsoever in shmups can clear Lunatic, I'm sure anyone can with practice.

Not him, but this guy >>9640468 here. Practice mode was my main mode of training. You get to practise the parts you're not good at instead of wasting hours upon hours of playtime getting there each time. Once I have a good enough grasp of all six stages I just try to chain it together.

If I find a part problematic, or if I think I could squeeze some more resources out of it but can't quite figure out how is when I watch replays. I can't bother to download and watch through them otherwise. Of course, it is a very big help to clearing games to watch replays as much as possible.

Started with the games, moved on to fanworks later. Fanmade doujinshi, games, music, anime, etc are all more fun, so I prefer that. The official games, on the other hand, are not fun and only frustrating, but feel rewarding when you score high, and that's really the only reason to play them. If you don't play them like a filthy fucking casual, they will not be fun, and aren't supposed to be. Any decent player that goes for more than shitty, half assed 1cc's can confirm this. I spend about a few hours per day playing the official games (not as much as I used to), but I largely find fanmade content more entertaining. But dialogue written by ZUN is hilarious, so that's worth a read through, too. Great thread, OP xD.

Once you have played a few of ZUN's own bullet hell games, you have played them all. They are not different enough to top the fan made content, though still enjoyable.

I still couldn't 1CC any of them original danmaku games. I just play them to spend time and mostly just doing random dodging which I find really fun to do in every shmup games.

Just a casual guy enjoying being in the fandom... So much fanart to appreciate, doujins to read and arrangements to listen it's an awesome thing.
