"Gensokyo" because it matches "Tokyo" and similar names. Romanizing the "ō" sound as "ou" is dumb, and for the same reason I think "Touhou" should be "Toho" (which is how ZUN spells it).

I just discover that there is a game name Touhou Gensoukyou

Yay, a thread about nitpicking on linguistics! So, why is captain "キャプテン" instead of "カプテン"? I never got that. Also, character is like that too.

Gensoukyou, Toukyou, Touhou.
It feels weird without the "u" there, I also used British spellings of words because of this reason. It just looks more complete to me.

"Gensokyo" and "Toho" both definitely look better. But it bothers me greatly that one wouldn't make a difference between お and おう because they both look, spell and sound differently. Seriously, why would you do that?

You can't read the romanization without learning how to pronounce it anyway. Why not at least be true to the kana representation then?
