Which game had a more memorable characters?

I personally like UFO more because of great characters like Shou,Murasa and Byakuren.
Nazrin and Kogasa are also cool while Ichirin is probally on the last place for me.

TD has cool characters too but I just like UFO better overall

Byakuren is better than Seiga and none of the other characters from either game matter.

TD is also just shit. UFO was arguably one of the best 2hu games.

Between the two of them, the only characters I don't like are Byakuren and Miko.

Which characters are more memorable is just which characters you liked better.

Actually, that's not entirely true. The patterns also have a lot to do with it, I would say, and UFO had some fucking memorable spells/effects.

Unzan's fists, Murasa's Anchors, Shou's curvy lazers.

Not to say Ten Desires didn't have a good bit either - Kyouko's Bouncing, Futo's boat, Seiga and Yoshika's double team.

TD feels like a supporting cast to the UFO one, though, the characters being confrontational to each other, not to mention a few of them actually being on the other team.

i'm basing my answer entirely off how quickly i memorized the characters' names. i still can't remember that ghost's name. tojiko something?

it doesn't help that yuyuko is TD's stage 1 and kogasa is in TD's stage 3, but even so, i remembered UFO bosses much more quickly.

TD had some good music but UFO's was slightly better. plus i'm not a big miko fan and I loved all of UFO stage 6.

UFO characters are weirder looking and have more danmaku gimmicks and better music. Ichirin is like looking at television static, but Unzan makes up for it.

A curtain is still a curtain, even if it comes in one big lump.

For me, I thought it was visually awesome looking, compared to the usual bullets that were just bullets (unless they were butterflies). It wasn't any less obvious it should be avoided, and awesome attacks were still made with fist and anchor alike. Not to mention said fists and anchors also came with plenty of bullets.

I thought I didn't like 12's cast because they were new, and needed time to grow on me.

Then 13 came out and I instantly liked pretty much the entire cast, except Mamizou. I guess 12's cast is just mediocre. I wish Shou got more popular though, she's pretty cool.

ZUN did a fantastic job referencing japanese history in TD's cast and spellcards, it's surprising how much you can learn.

Also, Miko is the handsomest stage six boss.

Sorry, but Miko is one of the worst Stage 6 bosses in the entire series.

She hardly has a theme going for her and she isn't even a ̶h̶a̶g̶ Mature, Classy Lady.

Both UFO ans TD have seemingly lackluster stage six stage and boss themes when listened to standalone, but they're spectacular when listened to in-game.

OK, lets see...
The most popular TD character according to the latest poll is Mononobe no Futo ranked 19th. The most popular UFO character is of course Byakuren (23rd). Well, I guess TD wins here...
But the truth is they both are shit.
Both Satori and Sanae were ranked 13th in the first vote after their corresponding game came out. And almost all of their cast got in top 40. At the same time TD currently has only ONE character in top 40. UFO is not doing any better. While SA/MoF characters gain more and more popularity with every year (for example SA currently has 3 characters in top 20), UFO's rating only drops down.
Both UFO and TD have characters with shitty designs, shitty special abilities and shitty personalities. And shitty music (with very few exceptions).
The sad part is that we will never see SA cast again in Touhou games while I'm sure 14th game will be full of UFO/TD shit.

Yes... yess... that's just grand.
For quite some time, I felt that the SA cast and game was one of the least popular groups out there. But they have been definitely been growing in popularity.
They are definitely deserving of some much needed love.
I could also use more SA merchandise. I demand more SA fumos, Satori & Koishi are just the beginning.

ZUN just needs to actually include the SA cast in the manga for them to maintain and hopefully gain popularity. But because he is such a shitty writer, he could never decide what to do with them in the long term. There's barely any canon material for the SA cast and they still rank high on the polls, so imagine how good they'll do when more is revealed about them.

I think SA hate comes from the massive butthurt that came of retuning the incredibly lenient bombs/power system of Mountain of Faith into the ballbreaker version in SA before he scraps it all for bombs in UFO.

Lasers. Every boss that uses lasers is shit. No one uses lasers in SA except for Yuugi (well, I think very few Satori's recollections involved lasers, but it's not her fault main heroine was thinking about such shitty spellcards).
Also Yuugi plays really dirty and ignores the ultimate rules of boss fight in Gensokyo. Every boss attacks that attacks you in the middle of the stage goes away then to give you some rest before the end of stage fight. But Yuugi just continues to attack you till the very end even though you already have some hard time dealing with regular stage enemies. Despicable. Can't win without cheating, Yuugi?

I don't see why everyone complains about lasers. They're long, big whoop. Sanae in SA has lasers as well but she's a mid-boss. But everything after Yuugi went downhill if you ask me. I also think the worst theme belongs to Koishi, even though I doubt anyone shares that view with me.

TD definitely had more memorable characters, but that's not saying much. MoF, TD and UFO had pretty unmemorable characters compared to the other games. I found UFO to have no memorable characters, except for possibly Nue. In addition UFO had a lot of cheesy danmaku with its characters after stage 2. TD at least had Seiga (with Yoshika), Futo and Yuyuko (if she counts). Seems like all of memorable casts are the ones that don't fiddle with these religious wars.

I liked both TD and UFO characters very much.

I generally tend to like characters with direct asian influences more, because asian culture is huge interest of mine, and both these games had a lot of that. I also enjoy the long and back-stories and the way they tie into the games, and I think most of the characters in these two games are some of the most fleshed out in touhou, if you take only the game-related information in regard.

But that is really just my opinion, even if I think that people hating too much on TD and UFO are quite uncalled for.
